Overview of Professionals and Training
We employ both RNs and LVNs as well as Certified Nursing Aids and Medication Aids. We have two Licensed Social Workers and our licensed Nursing Home Administrator is also a licensed social worker. All dietary staff have a food handlers' certificate and the Manager is also certified in Dietary Management. Other staff are housekeepers and laundry, maintenance, human resources, nurse case managers, and medical records. All staff must maintain any held licenses and/or undergo monthly training on a program called Relias, which covers multiple topics in healthcare, safety, ethics, and human relations.Safety and Well-being Measures
Our facility has key pads to all main entrances and alarms on all doors. We also have a secure unit for residents that wander and pose a danger to themselves for such behaviors. We maintain state and federal regulations for safety. In addition, our maintenance man performs frequent inspections on fire suppression systems. We also have multiple protocols in place to prevent and isolate infectious diseases.Support Services for Community Transition
We have social workers that help in the transition. They utilize many resources to help transition into long-term care as well as transition back into the community if applicable.Transportation Services
We have a full-time van driver and several staff members who can also drive the van. Our facility has several sister facilities that can assist with transportation if the schedule is too full or there is an issue with the van.Dining Experience
We offer in-room and cafeteria-style dining. The dining room is the ideal place to dine and socialize with peers. We receive few complaints about our food, and the menu has new items monthly as well as residents' favorites. We offer an alternative meal for lunch and dinner as well as soup and sandwiches upon demand. Our dietary manager has 30 plus years of experience and has been at Whispering Pines Lodge for over 12 years. She asks upon admission what the individual likes and dislikes to help guide her in meal preparation.Complaint Resolution Process
If a resident complains, it goes to the grievance officer, who in turn investigates the complaint and assigns the appropriate department(s) to resolve the complaint(s).Communication with Families
Only individuals on the face sheet may receive information on the resident. This ensures privacy for the individual. Staff will inform on all changes in condition to the resident and any incidents that may happen. Each resident is assigned a Champion that speaks to them daily and is the go-to for families for communication, wants, and needs. A minimum of a quarterly care plan is held for each resident by an interdisciplinary team.Short-term or Respite Stays
We do offer short-term respite. The semi-private rate is $167.00 a day and a private room is $270.00. We have several organizations in the community that can offset the cost and possibly offer respite care at no cost.Pet-Friendly Policy
We allow people to bring non-aggressive pets for visits if they are free of parasites and have current vaccinations. Several organizations bring in service animals here. They even bring in a miniature horse on occasions.Vaccinations
We offer Covid-19, flu, and other vaccinations in-house.Aging in Place
Yes, unlike Assisted Living Facilities, we allow residents to age in place. However, if they are on the secure unit and no longer meet the requirements (active wandering), we must obtain special permission from the Texas Ombudsman. Our current Ombudsman has never denied a live-in-place request. Currently, we do not have a waiting list. For pricing & availability call (866) 204-9238
