Overview of Staff and Training
Our community is licensed with the State, and our staff undergo comprehensive training tailored to their roles to ensure the highest standard of care. Caregivers receive hands-on training in assisting with daily living activities, communication techniques, and understanding residents' needs. Med techs undergo specialized training in medication administration, dosage management, and emergency response protocols. Our administrators receive extensive training in regulatory compliance, resident rights, and effective leadership practices. Through continuous education and development, our staff are equipped to provide compassionate, professional, and personalized care to all residents.
Safety and Well-being Measures
We prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents through a range of measures which include 24/7 staff assistance, regular safety inspections and maintenance of the community and equipment, secure entry points, ongoing staff training on emergency procedures, and open communication channels for the residents and their families to address any concerns promptly.
Transition Support Services
We work closely with each resident and their family to address their individual needs and preferences. Upon arrival, residents are re-oriented to the community, including an introduction to the staff, amenities, and services available. We also facilitate opportunities for the new residents to meet and socialize with their peers through group activities, events, and communal dining.
Transportation Services
We offer transportation to medical or dental appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 3pm. The request needs to be made at least 1 week in advance. The shuttle will go anywhere within a 12 mile radius (Kaiser Pinole and Kaiser Richmond are the two nearest hospitals). We use the shuttle for field trips every Wednesday (Oakland Museum, Shopping, Movies, Aquarium, etc...).
Dining Experience
With our Dine Your Way Program, residents enjoy a diverse array of dining options for every meal, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For lunch and dinner, residents can choose from 2 main entrees, along with a wide selection of other options available on our menu, such as salads, sandwiches, hamburgers, and chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy. Caregivers also serve as servers, fostering meaningful relationships and trust with residents while quickly learning their personal preferences. To streamline the dining experience and lessen food waste, we take their lunch orders during breakfast, their dinner orders at lunch, and their breakfast for the next day at dinner time. Tray service is available for non-sick residents with a nominal fee applied, but there is no fee for tray service when a resident is sick.
Resident Complaints and Issues
We encourage our residents and families to voice concerns openly and without hesitation. Our staff are trained to actively listen, validate feelings, and acknowledge concerns respectfully. We document the details and initiate any investigation needed promptly. This may involve gathering additional information, speaking with relative parties, and assessing the situation thoroughly. We follow up to ensure the issue has been addressed to their satisfaction and use feedback from complaints as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
Communication with Residents' Families
We offer a free app called Lifeloop that is designed to keep the staff, residents, and family members connected. With this app, you can view photos, request transportation, and monitor activity involvement of your loved one. We are also available to answer questions about your loved one via phone, text, or email.
Short-term or Respite Stays
We do not offer respite at this time.
Pet-Friendly Community
Our Independent / Assisted Living building allows pets (1 dog or cat per apt); the resident must be able to fully care for their animal, including vet appointments, food, litter, etc...
Covid and Flu Vaccinations
We would love to host a clinic, but given that most of our residents have different insurances, we couldn't qualify for any of the clinics to come visit us due to lack of participation.
Age in Place Community
Yes, this is an Age in Place community with an average residency of 6+ years. We will have a one-bedroom apartment coming available within the month, but it is currently undergoing construction.
