Overview of the Senior Living Community
The senior living community offers a comprehensive range of living options including assisted living, memory care, and independent living cottages. The community is designed to cater to the varying needs of its residents, providing a blend of independence, care, and support.
Independent Living Cottages
The independent living section features cottages that come with a two-bedroom, two-bath, and a one-car garage setup. These units are designed for residents who seek independence but want the convenience of community living. The cottages come with three different packages that include various amenities such as maintenance, utilities, lawn care, appliances, meal cards, and housekeeping services.
Pet Policy
Pets are welcome in the community with a one-time pet fee and a non-refundable deposit, ensuring that residents do not have to part with their beloved animal companions when they move in.
Respite Care and Short-Term Stays
The community offers respite care or short-term stays in the assisted living section, subject to availability. This service is particularly useful for caregivers in need of a break or for seniors recovering from a hospital stay.
Moving Services
While the community may have recommendations for moving companies, residents are free to choose their own movers or move themselves into the community.
Transportation Services
Transportation services are provided for residents, with one scheduled appointment per month. Additional transportation resources are available for families to arrange as needed.
Dining Experience
The community offers a dining area where residents in assisted living can enjoy meals in a cafeteria-style setting. Residents have the option to dine in the communal dining room or have meals delivered to their rooms. Social interaction during meal times is encouraged.
Staff and Medical Care
The staff includes MedAids who are responsible for medication management and aides who assist with the residents' needs. There is no LPN on staff. A doctor oversees the facility and sends a Physician Assistant (PA) every two weeks to check on residents. Residents can choose to have the visiting doctor as their primary or secondary physician.
Safety Measures
For safety, the community is equipped with call buttons in the living room and bathroom. Residents are also recommended to use a pendant around their neck, which requires a deposit.
Addressing Resident Complaints
Residents can submit written complaints which are then placed in a box for the Director of Nursing (DON) to address. The DON, who is also an RN, is responsible for overseeing the resolution of these concerns.
Communication with Families
The facility communicates with families through a Facebook page and direct phone calls for urgent matters. An emergency pack at the front desk contains all necessary contact information for reaching out to families when needed.
Additional Information
The staff member, Joyce, serves as an assistant to the DON and is described as a "Jackie of all trades," knowledgeable about the facility and responsible for conducting tours among other duties.
