Overview of Staff and Training

Our staff comprises various professionals, including caregivers, medication aides, and licensed nurses. In our assisted living memory care unit, the primary staff members are caregivers and medication aides led by a nurse manager. In our skilled nursing facility, a higher proportion of licensed nurses and healthcare professionals provide care.

Safety and Well-being Measures

Our assisted living memory care is a secure unit with a keypad for entry and exit, and the codes are changed regularly to ensure the safety of our residents.

Transportation Services

We provide transportation services for residents with a driver and a transportation vehicle. In the DFW area, the rate is $100 for a round trip.

Dining Experience

The dining room is centrally located at the center of the hall. We encourage communal dining, and no one eats in their rooms. Meals typically start with soup and salads before the main course is served.

Complaint and Issue Resolution Process

If a resident has a complaint or an issue, they should start by addressing it with the nurse manager and executive director. We provide our cell phone numbers to all residents and their families for direct communication.

Communication with Residents' Families

Families are kept updated through yearly service plans and can contact us anytime using our cell phone numbers. We also notify families of any change in a resident's condition.

Short-term or Respite Stays

Our assisted living residents are all long-term. Respite stays are more common in our skilled nursing facility.

Pet Policy

We are not currently a pet-friendly community as our residents in assisted living memory care are not capable of caring for pets. Pet care services would need to be contracted out by the family.

Vaccinations

Residents have access to Covid and flu vaccinations within the community.

Aging in Place

Most residents transition from assisted living memory care to our skilled nursing memory care as their care needs become more complex. Some residents may stay in assisted living memory care for life with the addition of hospice care. We do not have a waitlist at Villages Of Lake Highlands.
