Monthly Room and Board Fee

Studio units in the Courtyard memory care program have room and board charges of $8,355- $9,235 per month, varying according to the studio selected. This fee includes the cost of most nursing and personal care services, as well as meals, housekeeping and laundry services, recreation programs, medical transportation scheduled by Tockwotton staff, and health status reviews by professional nurses. Residents are asked to supply their own linen and bedding as well as towels.

Other Services and Charges

Community Fee for Memory Care Program $5,000
This one-time non-refundable charge at the time of admission helps to support our recreation programs.

Surcharge for Second Occupant $1,300 per month
A spouse or friend may share a unit with a Courtyard resident. If a second occupant utilizes services, the various charges and levels of service for personal care at The River’s Edge will apply to the second occupant.

Courtyard Retreat Stays $280-$300 per day
Tockwotton offers retreat stays as a community service for family caregivers who need periodic respite care from a resident program. A minimum stay of three weeks is required for short-stay residents.

Medication Plus Plan – Courtyard Program $275 per month
This plan covers four or more medication passes, and/or monitoring, or frequent changes in medication plan. Services may include administration of narcotics, injections, or other medication administered only by a licensed nurse.

Continence Plus Plan - - Courtyard Program $420 per month
This charge applies when a resident requires continuous monitoring and frequent staff attention to personal care, toileting, extra housekeeping and extra laundry. This plan includes coordination of care, ongoing counseling and diet supervision, as well as cueing and extra care from nursing assistants, housekeeping and laundry services, and purchasing and handling of supplies. Cost of supplies is not included.

Pharmacy Pick-up $100.00 per trip
This fee applies when licensed staff must travel to the pharmacy because a resident needs the immediate pickup of a prescription, or the resident’s pharmacy will not deliver medications on a timely basis, or family members are not available to assist when needed.

Personal Transport in Tockwotton Vans $50 per hour
Tockwotton is not usually able to provide non-medical individual transportation, for which we will refer residents to local taxis or chair car services. In those cases where we do provide individual transport, this service is billed in 15 minute intervals. This fee applies to medical appointments not scheduled by Tockwotton staff, as well as to any individual transport that is not part of Tockwotton’s recreation program.

Escort Service
When a Courtyard resident must go out to a medical appointment or an emergency room, our procedure is that we will contact a family member, and ask that a family member provide escort to and from the appointment. If that is not possible for you, our staff can provide a listing of community agencies through which you may arrange escort services. We will avoid as much as possible sending a resident to a hospital or emergency room until an escort is arranged, with the caveat that some situations require that the resident be transported immediately, even without an escort.
Tockwotton staff is normally not available to accompany Courtyard residents to medical appointments. In any case when they do so, the escort service is billed at the rate of $30 per hour, in 15 minute intervals, in addition to any transportation charge.

Key Fobs
One Key Fob is administered free of charge to one family member. Additional fobs are $20 each.
Wi-Fi Access to the Internet Included

Residents and visitors have full unmediated access to the Internet through the Tockwotton Wi-Fi service, which is available throughout Tockwotton on the Waterfront.

Technology Fee $40 per month
Tockwotton’s monthly Technology Fee provides the services below for a low, fixed monthly charge.

• Telephone Service: unlimited local and long-distance telephone service within the 50 United States. International calls are subject to extra charges. Each resident is assigned a 7-digit telephone number by Tockwotton directly, rather than an outside service provider. Each resident supplies the telephone handset of her/his choice, as would be the case in any other private home.
• Cable Television: the Cox Communications Basic and Expanded packages of channels.

Painting and repainting of a resident’s room $500 for painting and $500 repainting
There is a charge to paint a room from its original color to the requested color of the resident or family. The resident or family will also be charged for repainting the room to the original color.

Mail Forwarding Service $10 per month
A resident who asks that staff forward mail to an offsite address is subject to this charge.

Clerical Services $20 per hour
Available services include typing and assistance with documents.

Photocopying 25 cents per page
Notary Services $20 per occurrence

Room and Board Fees – The River’s Edge Apartments
For calendar year 2023, official room and board fees for The River’s Edge apartments range from $5,280 to $7,305 per month.

• Studios start off at $5,280 per month
• One bedrooms start off at $6,790 per month

Services covered by this charge include:

• Three meals per day in the main dining room
• Unlimited Wi-Fi- access to the Internet
• Weekly housekeeping service and weekly changing of bed linens and bath towels
• 7 day a week recreation programs
• Medical transportation if scheduled by Tockwotton staff
• Nursing assessments, and quarterly care plan reviews by professional nurses
• Use of all common spaces and grounds: Library, Media Lounge, Café, Theater Room, Sculler’s Pub, etc.
• Use of an electronic nurse call alarm system which allows a resident to summon help from any point in the building, by means of an electronic pendant carried by the resident.

Personal Care

Initial assessment and ongoing quarterly review of resident healthcare needs by professional nurses are included in the basic monthly room and board rate.
Personal care and routine nursing services are not included. Services provided by professional nurses and certified aides are offered in the form of four standard levels of care based on the time it takes to complete a task. These levels of care include, but are not limited to: coordination of medical and nursing care, physician consultations, scheduling of medical appointments and tests, and personal assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, personal hygiene and escorts to meals and activities. If a resident or his/her designee feels that they need a higher level of care, they can reach out to the Assisted Living Resident Care Director to set up a meeting to review level of care. Resident levels of care are reviewed periodically and are subject to change based on review by Resident Care Director.

• Level One up to 30 minutes each day $625 per month
• Level Two from 31 to 60 minutes each day $1,250 per month
• Level Three from 61 to 90 minutes each day $1,750 per month
• Level Four from 91 to 120 minutes each day $2,375 per month

Medication Management

Residents, who are able to successfully manage their own prescriptions, arrange refills and delivery, and take medication without assistance will not be subject to medication charges. Residents, who do require such assistance, as mandated by the Rhode Island Department of Health, are offered two levels of medication assistance. Service does not include the cost of pharmaceuticals.

Medication Plan $275 per month
Up to three medication passes with infrequent changes in medication plan are included in this service. (“As needed” medications are also administered as part of this plan.). Service includes all necessary interactions with resident’s physician, pharmacy, and insurer, as well as weekly set-up of medication cassette, and updating when medications change. Services include daily dispensing of medications by a certified medication aide. Services do not include administration of narcotics, injections, or other medication administered only by a licensed nurse.

Medication Plus Plan $500 per month
This plan covers four or more medication passes, and/or monitoring, or frequent changes in medication plan. Services may include administration narcotics, injections, or other medication administered only by a licensed nurse.

Continence Care Plan $420 per month
Occasional or infrequent continence care is included within the levels of personal care described above. When a resident experiences ongoing frequent incontinence, the Continence Care Plan is necessary as a separate service. This includes coordination of care, ongoing counseling and diet supervision, as well as cueing and extra care from nursing assistants, housekeeping and laundry services, and purchasing and handling of supplies. Continence care supplies are not included in the above prices, but will be provided by Tockwotton and billed to the resident.

Other Services and Charges

Security and Damage Deposit
A security and damages deposit equal to one month’s rent is also required for both the Assisted Living Residence Program. This deposit is returnable upon discharge and payment of any outstanding charges.

Room and Board Surcharge for Second Occupant $1,300 per month
When a second occupant shares an apartment, a monthly room and board charge of $1,300 per month is due, in addition to the first person’s charges.
If the second occupant utilizes services, the second person is subject to The River’s Edge fee schedule for all categories of services.

Community Fee $4,500
This one-time charge at the time of admission helps to support our recreation programs.

Retreat Stay $260 -300 per day
A two week stay is required. Services are billed separately. Meals, telephone and television and linens are included.

Guest Meals
Family members and other visitors are welcome to join residents for meals in the Dining Room. We ask that reservations be made a day ahead of time in order for service to be guaranteed. Charges for guest meals are:

• Breakfast $10.00
• Lunch $12.50
• Supper $10.00

Room Service $5.25 per meal

Individual Transport in Tockwotton Vans $50 per hour
Tockwotton is not usually able to provide individual transportation, for which we will refer residents to local taxis or chair car services. When our drivers are available, personal transportation can be scheduled. The rate charged for such trips is $50.00 per hour, billed in intervals of 15 minutes. This fee applies to medical appointments not scheduled by Tockwotton staff, as well as to any individual transport that is not part of Tockwotton’s recreation program.

Housekeeping and Laundry
Basic housekeeping services are provided once a week, and included in room and board charges. Extra housekeeping services beyond this weekly service are billed at the rate of $24 per hour, in intervals of 15 minutes.

Laundry service is provided as part of the Personal Care services discussed above. A resident who does not purchase a personal care package may have laundry done by staff at the rate of $7.50 per load. This fee includes folding and putting away clean laundry. (The use of laundry facilities on each floor, with detergent, is free of charge for any resident.)

Maintenance Services $50.00 per hour plus materials

Painting and repainting of a resident’s room $500 for painting and $500 repainting

Residents and visitors have full, unmediated access to the Internet through the Tockwotton Wi-Fi service, which is available throughout Tockwotton on the Waterfront. The Library houses two computers that are available to residents and visitors at any time.

Technology Fee – The River’s Edge $60 per month
The Technology Fee pays for unlimited local and long-distance telephone service within the 50 United States. International calls are subject to extra charges. The fee also includes a Cox Cable internet connection and the Cox Communications Basic and Expanded packages of cable channels. Tockwotton handles all arrangements with Cox Communications, and an individual Cox account is not needed.
Each resident requesting telephone service is assigned a 7-digit telephone number, which remains yours throughout your stay at Tockwotton. You also supply the telephone handset of your choice, as would be the case in any other private home.
Residents may also have a private cell phone or private computer in their apartment if they so choose.

One Apartment Key and one Key-Fob is administered free of charge to each resident and also to one family member at residents’ choosing. Additional fobs are $20 each, and additional keys are $10 each. Every apartment entrance door is lockable. Bedroom doors in one-bedroom apartments are lockable as are all bathroom doors.

Vigil Alarm System Pendants
Each resident is eligible to receive and use one alarm system pendant, which the resident may carry on a wrist band or a necklace, or in a pocket. One pendant is supplied upon request without charge. Due to the high cost of these pendants, any replacement that is needed will be supplied at a charge of $125.00. There is a charge of $5.00 for the replacement of batteries for pendants.

Waitlist Information

We currently do have waitlists in our Memory Care and our Nursing Level of Care Programming. We do not have a waitlist in our Assisted Living, but room size availability does change frequently (Studio vs one bedroom).

Assisted Living Program

Our assisted living program consists of studio and one bedroom apartments. Services in the assisted living consist of all meals in the dining room, weekly housekeeping services, all activity programs, and medical transportation to doctor’s appointment within a 10 mile radius.

There’re levels of care that are not included in the monthly rent but are listed in the attached disclosure statement. This will include any assistance with ADL’s for a length of time each day. When an assessment is completed by our Resident Care Director it is determined at that time if a level of care is needed. There also medication management packages, if a resident is unable to successfully manage their own prescriptions.

The apartments all contain a kitchenette, full bathroom, and walk-in closet. The one bed-room apartments have a living room area and the studio apartments are an open lay out. Studios start around $5,750.00 per month and go up and the one bedroom apartments start around $6,500.00 per month and go up.

The Courtyard - Memory Care Programming

The Courtyard is our memory care programming. The residents are in a secure, intimate environment. There are two household dining areas and kitchens where all your loved ones meals will be served. Staff members will assist with dressing and bathing and will also dispense his/her medications. Family is responsible for bringing all other furniture to decorate and make the studio as homey as possible (personal belongings such as pictures, artwork, awards, loved ones favorite chair, bed etc.). The cost for the Memory Care is $7,685.00 a month and goes up based on the size studio available. Each studio has its own full bathroom and is furnished with an armoire.

Nursing Program

In our Nursing program, we understand every resident has their own unique personality with likes and dislikes. That is why we practice individualized person-centered care. Each resident is treated as an individual. Staff members, highly trained in person-centered care, encourage residents to make their own decisions about personal issues and how to structure their day. Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care at Tockwotton on the Waterfront consists of two households of 17-18 residents featuring all private rooms with full baths. Each household will have its own fully functioning residential kitchen, cozy living and dining rooms, terrace, laundry room and its own consistent staff.
