Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Senior Living Sales Counselor at The Village at Gainesville via email on 2024-01-18.
Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
It depends on the floor plan. We are VERY full but do have several units still available â primarily our 2-bed/2-bath + a study floor plans, & 1 or 2 1-bedroom/1.5 bath + a study. We do have some prospective/future residents on a waitlist for specific floor plans.
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
This will be a very long answer, but I can give a brief rundown, & then elaborate if/when you come for a campus visit/tour. We have about 320 associates (employees). Our various teams/departments include Administration, security, sales & marketing, dining, maintenance, environmental services (housekeeping), Vitality, Life Enrichment, etc.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
Our security team is on-site 24/7, 365 days per year. Our campus is completely enclosed with three gated entrances. All visitors are required to check in with security upon arrival. Our security team also makes rounds on the campus periodically to keep an eye on things. Our residents are issued a PHB (personal help button) upon move-in, which can be worn as a watch or a pendant. They can press the PHB if they have an accident or problem & need assistance. This notifies our security team, who can locate our residents anywhere on our campus if they have their PHB on. Our security team is first aid, CPR, & AED certified, & sort of serve as our first responders in a sense. Once they get to the resident in need of assistance, they determine if further medical personnel is necessary. We can discuss this more if/when you come for a tour!
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
Yes. We have resident ambassadors in each building, or âneighborhoodâ. These are residents who have lived here for a while, & they help new residents get acclimated by showing them the ropes & introducing them to other residents. Additionally, our Community Life Navigator has a Welcome Visit with every new resident to ensure they know how certain things work (meal tags, PHBs, how to sign up for activities, how to use The Village app & our TV channel, etc).
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Yes. We have shuttles that make the rounds on our campus, picking residents up from the front of their apartment building/cottage & taking them to our social hubs & the various spots on campus. They come around every 15-20 minutes or so, but residents can always call the Resident Support Center (RSC) to request a shuttle if they miss it.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
Iâve included information below about our meal plan, âCulinary Cashâ, & a bit of information about our 4 different dining venues. Iâve also attached a flyer about âCulinary Cashâ & have included some menus.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
Residents can submit complaints to their Neighborhood Representatives (fellow residents) or our administrative department.
What is the cost of living in your community?
This would depend on the apartment/floor plan a resident is in, whether there are 1 or 2 occupants in the apartment. Residents can eliminate many monthly/annual expenses from their budget upon moving in â utilities, homeownersâ insurance, property taxes/insurance, home upkeep & maintenance, HOA dues/fees, gym membership, a portion of what theyâd typically spend on groceries (since we have a meal plan), etc. Some residents choose to get rid of their vehicle upon moving in, since we provide much of their necessary transportation (& they can always request more), so many residents eliminate auto insurance, gas, maintenance, etc. This is kind of hard to answer without having a few more details, but hopefully my response gives you a general idea.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
If a resident has a family/emergency contact in place, we can communicate with them about things such as falls, emergencies, how often a resident pushes their âpersonal help buttonâ, etc. Our team looks for indicators that might mean a transition to Assisted Living/Memory Support could be necessary - & we try to be proactive rather than reactive â so residents & their families are not left having to make a quick decision without much notice. We can discuss this more if/when you come for a tour!
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
This depends on our occupancy & availability. Right now, since we are about 97% or 98% occupied, we are not currently offering respite or short-term stays. If/When we do accommodate a respite stay, the cost would depend on the level of care needed by the resident/guest.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Yes. We try to limit to 2 pets per residence & a maximum weight of 45 lbs. That said, sometimes there are exceptions made. There is a one-time pet fee of $500 per pet, & a monthly pet rent of $35 (which covers all pets, not per pet).
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes. We do not require residents to be vaccinated, but they certainly can be if they choose. We often hold vaccine clinics on our campus, & we also have a physician on site that can administer vaccines, should a resident choose to establish care with our physician(s).
Are residents able to age in place?
Absolutely đ Thatâs our hope! It depends on the floor plan. We are VERY full but do have several units still available â primarily our 2-bed/2-bath + a study floor plans, & 1 or 2 1-bedroom/1.5 bath + a study. We do have some prospective/future residents on a waitlist for specific floor plans.
