Overview of Longhorn Village

Longhorn Village is a life plan community that offers a spectrum of living options to its residents, including independent living, assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing. This community provides a comprehensive approach to senior living, ensuring that residents can receive the appropriate level of care as their needs evolve over time.

Short-Term Stays and Respite Services

The community offers short-term stays and respite services in both skilled nursing and assisted living settings. These services are available from time to time, catering to residents who may need temporary care.

Pet Policy

Pets are welcome in the independent living section of Longhorn Village. The community does not have strict breed restrictions or weight limits but instead focuses on the personality of the pet. Dogs undergo a pet interview to ensure their temperament is suitable for the community environment.

Transportation Services

Longhorn Village provides transportation services for its residents, which include trips for shopping, doctor's appointments, and various outings. For example, residents have enjoyed excursions to a pumpkin patch and dining out with the Galloping Gourmet group, highlighting the community's commitment to engaging social activities.

Move-In Assistance

To assist new residents with moving in, Longhorn Village provides recommendations for move management companies and approved movers. Additionally, the maintenance staff offers four hours of help to set up the new living space, such as hanging pictures. The community is also working on an expansion project called the Ballantine, set to be completed in spring 2025, with moving assistance planned for those future residents.

Communication with Residents' Families

The facility maintains open lines of communication with residents' families through various channels, including monthly newsletters, apps, emails, and phone calls. This ensures that families are kept informed about their loved ones and community updates.

Resident Complaints

If residents have complaints or concerns, they can communicate them to the staff via email, providing a written record and ensuring that their issues are addressed promptly and effectively.

Safety and Security Measures

Longhorn Village takes the safety and security of its residents seriously. In independent living, buildings automatically lock at 7 PM, with residents using key fobs for access. A courtesy officer is on site 24 hours a day. Additionally, residents are issued pendants and have access to pull cords in their bathrooms, which are connected to the SARA emergency response system.

Dining Services

The community offers a variety of dining options, including two restaurants and a bistro within the independent living area. The bistro serves hot breakfast and entrees until 6:30 PM, while the Hill Country Cafe is open for lunch and dinner with flexible dining times. The Treaty Oak Room provides a more upscale dining experience for dinner only.

Longhorn Village employs a diverse staff to cater to the needs of its residents. This includes housekeepers, maintenance personnel, concierge services, life enrichment coordinators, physical fitness trainers, dining staff, and a wellness center staffed with nurses available during the weekdays to assist residents with health concerns.
