Overview of Professional Staff and Training
We currently have a nurse, Certified Medication Aides, Certified Nursing Aides, and Caregivers on our care team. All of our Executive Directors company wide are licensed nurses in the state of Georgia. All medications will be given by our nurse or by a Certified Medication Aide. These are Certified Nursing Aides that have received an additional certification through a licensed Pharmacist to be qualified to give medications. Our care team further included Certified Nursing Aides who have completed education and passed examination to becoming certified in the state of Georgia. Caregivers are those who are not certified within the state of Georgia, but have ample experience and longevity in the field. ALL of our staff must complete training hours prior to working their first onsite training shift, and prior to working their first shift on specific assignment. This includes, but is in no way limited to, resident rights, HIPPA, Dementia training, basic caregiving instruction, state and company policy and regulations, CPR/First Aid, Fire Safety, evacuation protocol, etc.
Safety and Well-being Measures
As a licensed assisted living, we have three sections within our building and a free standing independent living campus. Our Assisted Living building houses our memory care, transitional care, and assisted living. The memory care is the most secure location, with 24/7 key card secured doors. All residents within this unit have cognitive deficits that require a high level of secure for their own personal safety. This unit is staffed at a minimum of 1 care partner to 8 residents at all times. It is common throughout waking hours to have a higher ratio than our standard 1:8. The Transitional Care is our “in the middle” level for those who have cognitive deficit but do not required a 24/7 secured unit for safety. This unit is unlocked during the daytime and secures through the nighttime for the protection of those residents who have the onset of sundowning behaviors. This unit is staffed with one stationary care partner and a floating certified medication aide at all times. There are times of day that require a higher volume of hands on care and those times will be staffed with an additional care partner. The Assisted Living is the most independent level of care that we offer. There is no locked security, other than our front doors, for these residents, as they do not yet require the additional security for safety. The staffing of this unit is the same and the transitional care unit. Our front doors remain unlocked from 8:30am to 6:30pm, which is the hours we have a reception to “man” that entrance. Once the reception is not longer working the desk, the front door secures until morning. There is a process for entry of families, emergency personnel, etc. afterhours. Our independent living community has a community center that is open between the hours of 8:30-6:00pm. There is someone available to residents at this time and there is an emergency on call available for times outside of community center hours.
Resources and Support Services for New Residents
We understand that moving into a senior living community is not always easy and comes with different challenges with different residents. This is handled differently for each resident, as needs differ. We will pair a resident with a current resident upon arrival and that will serve as their ambassador for the first few days. This ambassador will invite the new resident to meals, activities, etc. Staff will also assist in setting a new routine with the new resident that is comfortable and conducive to their wants and needs.
Transportation Services
We do offer transportation services within our assisted living and independent living for $25 one way. There are scheduled outings and shopping trips through our activities programming which in at no charge to the resident.
Dining Experience
We serve three meals a day restaurant style within our assisted living building. These meals come plated to the table. Residents do have the choice of the entrée of the day or they have a seasonal alternative menu to choose from. Breakfast is cooked to order in the main dining room from 7:30-9:00 and continental breakfast is available in the activities kitchen in the second floor activities room. Independent Living has restaurant style meals for lunch and dinner, but breakfast is served as a “to go” option. The same menu options and alternative selections apply.
Resident Complaints and Issues
We have a standard grievance policy that instructs all grievances and complaints go directly to the executive director or the manager on duty. We find that this is the most timely way to handle all complaints and provide quick solutions or remedies. Any complaints given to staff members who are not the ED or the MOD will be taken to them immediately. We pride ourselves on quick solutions. Every grievance will be handled as an emergent or imperative situation. Nothing is too big or too small.
Cost of Living
The rates for our assisted living building are inclusive of meals, snacks and hydration, housekeeping, laundry service, utilities, cable/internet/landline phone service, wireless nurse call systems, activities, mediation management and 24/7 availability of staff. We do offer levels of care that are not included in the base rents that range from no additional cost at all to $1295 a month. This level of care is determined by an assessment that is completed by our nurse. This level of care is fluid and can change based on the residents needs. You are not locked into a level of care, thus your rate can both increase or decrease based on needs. There are ancillary services available that would be add ons as well. These include, but are not limited to, salon services, manicure and pedicure service, transportation, incontinence supplies, personal shopping allowances, etc.
Communication with Resident's Families
We are flexible with our communication styles, as we know that not everything works for everyone. We will communicate with families through text, email, phone call, and/or in person meetings. Depending on the need and the preference of the resident/families, we will set a reasonable schedule of communication frequency. This can range from weekly to biannually. Emergency notifications or notifications of change of condition will be given to the primary contact immediately as necessary. We welcome checks ins from families as they have questions or seek additional information outside of scheduled communications. We have quarterly care plan meetings with all memory care residents and bi annual care plan meetings with all transitional care and assisted living residents. These meetings are had with the resident, families, our care staff and management team, and any medical providers/third party care providers. This allows us a clear and all-encompassing view of the resident in order to provide the most accurate and up to date plan of care.
Short-term or Respite Stays
We offer respite stays at a daily rate of $235-$280 a day. These stays are between 10 and 90 days in length and can be extended to the maximum of 90 days should it be wanted or necessary. Respite stays occur in a fully furnished room and received the same care and services that a permanent resident is to receive on a daily basis.
Pet-Friendly Community
We are a pet friend community with a onetime upfront fee of $500. Our Bogart location does currently have a waitlist for assisted living and memory care options. We do have immediate and upcoming openings in independent living.
