Community Details

Community Details

This detailed information was received through an email from the Director of Community Relations at The Highlands via email on 2024-03-13.

Overview of Staff and Training

Our staff includes RNs, CRMAs, CNAs, and caregivers, all of whom operate with active licenses and are current with their certification qualifications. We provide additional on-the-job training and continuing education requirements for all staff. While caregivers may not hold certifications, many are pursuing educational programs to obtain their CNA or RN licenses. Our kitchen staff are SafeServe certified.

Safety and Well-being Measures

Residents have access to call pendants for assistance, in addition to regularly scheduled care. They have lockable doors with keys, and the front door is locked after hours (residents have keys). Staff undergo criminal background checks, and we have safeguards with our pharmacy partner to ensure safe medication delivery.

Resources for Transitioning Residents

We recommend full-service moving companies and offer problem-solving advice for individual situations. We encourage future residents to join meals and events to assimilate into the community. Existing residents provide support to newcomers in understanding and connecting with others.

Dining Experience

Our dining offers self-seating with a full breakfast complement, and for lunch and supper, a choice of soup and two entrees, among other meal choices. The kitchen accommodates standard requests, and snacks are available anytime. Residents have the freedom to choose their meals, even if choices are not always the healthiest.

Addressing Complaints and Issues

For details on our complaint and issue resolution process, please refer to page 13 and Appendix C on page 20 of the attached lease.

Cost of Living

Living costs range from $8,505 to $12,505 per month, depending on the level of care required by the resident.

Communication with Residents' Families

We maintain an open door policy, providing contact information for the care team to all family members indicated at move-in. We typically communicate with one appointed family member but encourage all family members to be actively involved in their loved one's life.

Short-term or Respite Stays

We offer short-term stays of 15 days or more in a fully furnished apartment for $425 per day, subject to availability.

Pet-Friendly Community

Yes, we are pet-friendly, with the condition that pets are house trained, up to date with vaccinations, and suitable for community life.

Waitlist Information

We do not have a waitlist but operate on limited availability.

Vaccination Availability

We collaborate with our pharmacy partner to offer seasonal flu and COVID vaccinations to our residents.

Aging in Place

Residents can age in place as long as their care needs do not require long-term nursing home level care. We support the use of hospice or palliative care when appropriate.
