Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Sales & Marketing Director at The Forum At Brookside via email on 2023-12-28.
About Our Community
We are a well-established community of almost 40 years. Many of our managers and hourly staff have been in place for 10, 15 or 20 years! Our executive director, Sara Shaw, has been here for 33 years (she started when she was a teenager and worked her way up!) Staff include Business Office Manager (Accounting), Resident Services Director (liaison for resident needs and family communication, also oversees transportation department), Marketing Director & Move-In coordinator (tours, lease signing, moving in), Food and Beverage Director (in charge of all kitchen and wait staff), Activities Director & assistant (create the calendar of activities that take place on and off campus), Plant Manager (in charge of maintenance, security and housekeeping staff), Housekeeping Supervisor, Transportation Supervisor (coordinates driving schedule for personal appointments and group outings), Security Supervisor (starting at 3:30 each afternoon and evening in the Pavilion and at the front gate- we are a gated community). There are also other positions in our Personal Care community such as an Activities Director, Nurse Supervisor, CNAs, etc. These staff are NOT licensed to see residents that live in Independent Living.
Safety and Well-being Measures
Each resident gets an emergency pendant (similar to life alert) upon moving in. This is for emergencies that may occur on campus. There are grab bars in each bathroom as well as another emergency button and pull-chord. In addition, we have staff on site 24/7 to answer any emergencies.
Transition Support Services
We have resources for the move itself (movers, downsizers, etc) AND we have a program in place to assist with getting settled in. Each new resident will get an “orientation” from me (Move-In coordinator) and will be called a few times by our hospitality committee of residents. They will invite to lunch or dinner! We also have a Newcomer’s Club that meets on a monthly basis. Each resident is a newcomer for their first year.
Transportation Services
Yes. Monday thru Friday from 8:30- 3:30 off site. Anywhere within a 5 mile radius of The Forum, there is no charge. Mileage fees will occur after that 5 miles and it is listed in our resident handbook (residents get this upon moving in).
Dining Experience
There is a sample dinner menu in the brochure provided. Breakfast is served M-Sat. in our Bistro café. There are hot options (eggs made to order) and things that are continental/ grab & go. Lunch, dinner, and brunch on Sunday are all in the main dining room. Lunch is casual, seat yourself and order from the menu. Dinner, we will have a host/hostess seat you like a restaurant. (NO assigned seating, dress code for dinner and Sunday brunch- NO jeans, sweatpants, shorts, or ball caps)
