Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Assistant Director Of Community Relations at The Arbors At Hauppauge via email on 2023-12-30.
Overview of Staff and Training
Our community is led by department heads consisting of Executive Director, Case Management, Wellness Director, Director of Recreation, Director of Environment Science, Director of Culinary, HHA & CHA Care Specialist, Medication Technicians, and Housekeeping. All are required to be in conduct with the NY DOH. Anyone who provides care goes through training to be certified to assist.
Safety and Well-being Measures
Our community offers 24/7 Care Specialist to assist with care needs. We also have a 24/7 concierge to ensure who is coming in and out of the building at all times. For communication, we offer emergency pull cords in the rooms as well as an emergency phone. Our building also offers 24/7 surveillance in all common areas in the community.
Resources for Transitioning Residents
Yes! We collect some information about your loved one to get a sense of personality and needs. We have an amazing Director of Recreation and Recreation team that truly encourage new residents to find their groove and feel confident meeting others. We understand not everyone has the same journey; it's all in the approach. We want to learn just as much about you as you learn about us!
Transportation Services
Yes, we have a bus that takes us to local trips (Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree), and we also can set up a SCAT bus through Suffolk county for any specialty doctors appointments (through health insurance).
Dining Experience
Our dining is 3 times a day for an hour and 15 minutes. We have assigned seating to know any dietary needs and can take attendance. It is restaurant style; you get a server who takes your order from the menu (we offer specials as well as staples every day). All food is a no added salt diet.
Addressing Resident Complaints
Any concerns can be brought to the attention of any department head, depending on the circumstance, it will be directed to the appropriate contact to address.
Communication with Resident's Families
We ask for one point of contact for families (whether that be POA, HCP, or whomever you choose). This contact will be responsible for relaying messages to other family members as we do not want any mixed lines or misinformation relayed.
Short-term or Respite Stays
Yes, we offer respite options, which are $300/day for 30 days.
Pet-Friendly Community
We accept cats.
Covid and Flu Vaccinations
Yes, residents are able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community.
Aging in Place
Yes, residents are able to age in place without the financial concern. We provide care for all our residents under one cost, being all-inclusive. We start with medication management, and range from assistance with showering, toileting, dressing, escorting services, and one person transfers. The cost you pay covers all your care you could need. Past the assistance I just mentioned, that would go into Skilled Nursing category. If your loved one is not at that point, it is hard for them to acclimate when others around are at that stage. If we felt that we could no longer be a benefit, we would communicate with you next steps and guide through the process. We do not have a wait list, however, we have limited availability.
