Overview of Staff and Training
All of our staff are required to complete a certain number of training hours annually. Aides need 15 hours, while other staff members need 14 hours. Six of these hours are dedicated to dementia care, and approximately four hours cover mandatory topics such as fire safety and elder abuse prevention. Our team includes housekeepers, certified nurse's aides, nurses, activity professionals, kitchen staff, cooks, and dietary aides.
Safety and Well-Being Measures
We conduct fire drills quarterly for each shift and provide additional drills as needed. New employees and all staff annually receive training in fire safety and evacuation procedures. Our facility has a comprehensive disaster plan to address potential emergencies such as floods, fires, and bomb threats.
Resident Transition Support Services
We offer resident orientation tailored to individual needs and social comfort levels. Managers introduce themselves to new residents within the first two days, and we conduct extra safety checks frequently. Our activities director engages with new residents to assist in their adjustment, and we escort new residents to meals until they feel comfortable navigating on their own.
Transportation Services
Our van follows an activity schedule for group outings such as shopping and dining. For personal appointments, residents can hire a one-on-one aide from our home care agency to accompany them. We also have a physician who visits The Arbors for on-site medical care.
Dining Experience
We serve three meals daily in our dining room, offering a restaurant-like experience with multiple choices for lunch and dinner, including heart-healthy and low-sodium options. Sugar-free alternatives are available, and we do not add salt to our dishes. Residents can also request simple items like sandwiches, salads, or fruit.
Resident Grievance Procedure
Our Executive Director, Tina, is the primary contact for concerns, compliments, or complaints. Each department has a manager, and we encourage open communication to address any issues. We also hold a monthly resident council meeting.
Family Communication Policy
We use a voice friend system to send updates to families via text, email, and voicemail. Our Executive Director reaches out to families after move-in to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.
Short-Term or Respite Stays
We offer short-term or respite stays at a rate of $220 per day.
Pet-Friendly Community
While pets are welcome to visit, they do not reside here unless they are service or support animals. We also have pet therapy sessions and encourage family pet visits.
Vaccination Services
Our community offers flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinics on specific dates, organized by our nursing staff.
Aging in Place
The Arbors aims to allow residents to age in place, offering various levels of care and services such as hospice, skilled nursing, and physical and occupational therapy as needed.
