Overview of Staff and Training
We employ a diverse range of professionals including Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNAs), Resident Assistants (RAs), security personnel, housekeeping staff, dietary experts, chefs, laundry staff, sales/admissions/marketing personnel, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physicians, an optometrist, a podiatrist, an audiologist, nurse practitioners, hairdressers, maintenance and grounds staff, administrative personnel, activities coordinators, transportation drivers, social services, and others. Many of these professionals hold licenses and participate in continuous monthly on-site training.Resident Safety and Well-being
Security is a priority at SMC. We are a gated community with 24-hour security that patrols our 200-acre grounds. Every building requires a name badge for entry or a button to be pressed, with both video and audio surveillance in place.Resources and Support for Resident Transition
We provide resident ambassadors and an Independent Living Housing Manager to assist with new residents' transitions. This includes introducing them to neighbors and ensuring their TV and Wi-Fi function properly.Transportation Services for Residents
We offer scheduled group trips to local shopping areas, such as Walmart on Mondays, Kroger on Tuesdays, and Meijer on Thursdays. Individual trips are available for a fee.Dining Experience
Our dining options include the Community Center (our main restaurant), a Soup and Sandwich shop connected to our gift shop and ice cream parlor (free ice cream daily), and dedicated dining areas in each assisted living and skilled nursing building. No tipping is permitted, fostering a stress-free environment.Resident Complaint or Issue Resolution Process
We emphasize open communication. Our President/Administrator is very involved, and we host Coffee Connections meetings for residents to share concerns. Nursing supervisors and the social services department are approachable for medical situations.Communication with Residents' Families
The communication policy is determined by the resident or Power of Attorney and varies based on community location. Assisted living and skilled nursing have different policies compared to independent living.Short-term or Respite Stays
Respite stays are offered in our medical model assisted living building, subject to availability. The daily rate is $190/day.Pet-Friendly Community
As a pet-friendly community, residents can keep pets if they can care for them. Some dog breeds are restricted (e.g., Pit bulls). A one-time pet fee of $500 is applicable.Waitlist Information

Plus, assisted living residents take advantage of the social benefits of senior living such as joining a pool league or art class, game nights, or weekly happy hours. With private apartments, we take a personalized approach to meet you where you’re at. Our spectrum of care in assisted living adjusts the amount of support and care we provide as your needs change so you have the comfort of knowing we’re here for you.
