Overview of Spring Harbor Community

Spring Harbor is a full continuing care retirement community (CCRC), also known as a Life Plan community, located in Columbus, Georgia. It is the only community within a 100-mile radius that offers a comprehensive range of services including independent living, personal care, memory care, and skilled nursing.

Residency and Admissions

Spring Harbor does not take direct admits into skilled nursing; a 90-day residency is required before accessing skilled nursing services. Direct admits into personal care and memory care are available. The community has a waiting list for independent living, primarily for those waiting for their preferred apartment type, but there is availability, particularly in one-bedroom apartments.

Pet Policy

Pets are welcome in independent living, provided their vaccination records are on file. Pets are not allowed in healthcare areas but are permitted to visit.

Moving and Transportation

While Spring Harbor does not provide moving services, they offer recommendations for moving companies. Transportation is available for doctor's appointments and community activities, included at no extra fee.

Dining Services

The community boasts excellent dining options with one dining room open from 7 AM to 7 PM and another from 11 AM to 7 PM. Residents in independent living receive a $525 dining allowance included in their monthly fee. For healthcare residents, all three meals per day are covered in the fee.

Security and Safety

Spring Harbor provides 24-hour security with a front desk that is always manned. Residents can have pendants or watches for emergencies, and there are pull cords in bathrooms, push buttons by beds, and an emergency call button in the kitchen. The community's fire alarms and emergency response protocols are tested and effective.

Resident Concerns and Communication

Residents can voice their concerns through various drop boxes, including a dining drop box and a general drop box. The community also uses an app called Touchtown for internal communication, which includes a resident directory, daily activities, and menus. Paper announcements are also delivered to residents' cubbies.

Healthcare and Amenities

Spring Harbor has a Piedmont physician operating five days a week on-site, and full therapy services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy are available. The community emphasizes the importance of having skilled nursing available, which is not common in all facilities.

Age Requirement

Prospective residents must be at least 62 years old to join the Spring Harbor community.
