Overview of the Senior Living Community
The senior living community in question is a medical model assisted living facility that provides 24-hour care with nurses and STNAs (State Tested Nursing Assistants). It offers private rooms with their own bathrooms, but without kitchen facilities. The rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser, nightstand, over-bed table, and a chair. Residents are expected to provide their own television, although cable hookups are available.
Levels of Care
The community has three levels of assisted living care, which are determined based on the resident's needs as evaluated by the nursing staff.
Respite Care
Respite care services are available at the same rate as the assisted living services. Residents seeking respite care must have seen their primary doctor within the last 30 days and provide an updated history, physical, and medication list prior to admission. Payment for respite care is required upfront.
Move-In Assistance
While the community does not offer resources such as moving companies to assist with moving into the facility, they do provide all necessary furniture. Residents are welcome to bring personal items such as lift chairs, lamps, books, decorations, and pictures.
Pet Policy
Pets are not allowed to live in the facility, but they are permitted to visit.
Dining Experience
Residents have the option to dine in a communal dining area or in their own rooms. Menus are pre-made with alternate options available for those who have specific preferences. Residents can specify their preferred beverages like coffee or milk for each meal.
Safety Measures
The community prioritizes safety with 24-hour nursing staff and STNAs. For residents who may wander or seek exits, memory care units with WanderGuard are available. The staff's presence ensures more eyes on the residents for increased safety.
Addressing Complaints
Residents can direct complaints to the nurse on duty, who is the first point of contact. If necessary, the issue can be escalated to the supervisor, director of nursing, or the administrator.
Communication with Families
Communication with families is established upon admission, with preferences for contact persons and methods noted. Updates and changes are communicated via phone calls or emails. The community does not use apps or platforms for direct communication with families but maintains a Facebook page for general updates.
Transportation Services
The community has a transport van primarily for skilled or short-term residents. Assisted living residents are responsible for the cost of transportation if needed, and most medical appointments can be managed in-house.
Wait List Status
Currently, there is no wait list for the assisted living facility, and a few beds are available.
Staff and Training
The staff includes state-tested nursing assistants and licensed nurses (LPNs or RNs). Staff members undergo regular training to maintain licensure and participate in in-services provided by the facility. Many staff members have been with the community for a long time and may also work on the nursing home side of the facility.
