Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
We do not have a waitlist currently, although, availability is a bit slim at the moment- we have one free private room and one female companion room available currently.
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
We do plenty of in-house training here at Peregrine. We have the Director Team (Executive Director, Community Relations Director (Me!), Dietary Director, Activities Director, and Maintenance Director. In addition, we do have our Case Manager, LPN’s, Med Techs, Care Aides, Activities Aides.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
We have plenty of safety measure here at Peregrine Colonie. Being that we are a secure Memory Care Community, we have a completely secure building (due to those who could wander).
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
We work very closely with the new residents’ families, their primary care doctor etc. We also have a Geriatric Care Physician/Psychiatrist who can assess residents needs as they assimilate to our community; he works with us every Monday. We also have a Podiatrist that sees our residents every few months, and a primary care physician that comes in every Friday to see residents. With the Primary Care Physician, the family needs to fill out an application. This can take a few months to have a new resident added to her list.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
We only offer transportation for activities; we do not offer transportation to medical appointments. We can recommend transportation services if needed through agencies we have worked with in the past.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
We have wonderful meals here, overseen by our Chef who has been with us for 4 years. We take resident preferences, allergies etc into consideration with meals and always have food available for residents when they would like to eat or drink.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
We ask that the family reaches out to any of our Directors if there is an issue and we will address this asap.
What is the cost of living in your community?
Currently, our private rooms are $8550 per month- which does include all medication management, and help with bathing, dressing, toileting etc. We do have added levels of care (Level I- additional $1400 per month and Level II- additional $2000 per month). This may be needed for those residents who do require added care. We have a few companion care rooms with a rate of $6910 per month.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
We are in constant contact with our residents’ families. Being that we are a Memory Care Community this is especially crucial. We are all easy to reach as well and do keep an open line of communication with the families.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
We do offer respite care although this is always based on availability at the time care is needed. The rate is $275 per day, and we have a minimum of 30 days for a respite stay.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Residents are not allowed to have pets in their rooms; however, we do have a pet therapy that comes in, and we also have a bird aviary with two little finches and a fish take. Families are allowed to bring in family pets for visits as well, we just need to make sure that the pet is up to date on all their shots etc. Memory care residents typically love animals!
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes, we do offer vaccination clinics here at Peregrine and inform families of this in advance.
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, residents can age in place here, we do work with hospice services as needed as well. As long, as we can provide the physical care needed with the NY State Licenses we have. If a resident truly needs to move onto skilled nursing, our Case Manager will work with the family to find placement in a skilled Memory Care Unit.
