Follow-Up on Senior Living Inquiry

Thank you for your follow-up email and questions. That is a good list of questions, have you been doing a lot of research to date? Are you exploring retirement community options for yourself or for a family member? What has prompted you to undertake this search for senior living?

Looking at your list of questions, they tend to lean towards a level of care higher than Independent Living. Are you considering independent living as an option or is a higher level of care such as Personal Care what is needed at this time?

Oxford Enhanced Senior Living is Independent Living, so I am going to answer all of your questions keeping that in mind. If you have these same questions regarding our Personal Care or Memory Care at Oxford, I will make sure we connect you with the correct person on our campus!

Staff and Training

Our Leadership team has over 150 collective years of experience in the senior living industry, which provides a wealth of knowledge to our residents and staff. Each department head holds appropriate certification and licensure needed for their department. Additionally, all staff complete required annual training which covers such topics as recognizing abuse, fire safety, infection control, and HIPAA, among others.

Resident Safety and Well-being

Each apartment is equipped with emergency pull cords in both bedrooms and bathrooms. This emergency response is monitored by our front desk which is staffed 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We also have a daily “check-in” system in place that allows us to know our residents are active.

Transition Support Services

We do have a resident ambassador program that assigns an existing resident to new residents. This provides a peer to help them navigate the building and better understand the day to day living of the community. Additionally, all managers & directors interact with all new residents directly within the first 48 hours of their residency to ensure they are familiar with who runs each department and what their responsibilities are to the residents.

Transportation Services

We provide complimentary transportation for our residents within 10 miles of our community.

Dining Experience

A light complimentary continental breakfast is available each morning and includes coffee, tea, hot & cold cereals, fresh fruit and a variety of Danish/pastry/muffin etc. This is not a served meal and there is no option for any prepared foods in the morning.

Dinner is included each evening. We offer a very eclectic menu that includes multiple entrée options that change daily along with an “always available” menu.

Addressing Complaints and Issues

Work orders can easily be placed with our concierge at the front desk for maintenance related concerns or issues. Otherwise, I believe all departments and their directors are very open to communication with residents and their families at all times. Our Executive Director has an open-door policy and is available often.

Cost of Living

I have attached our 2024 Fee Schedule to this email for your review. All new residents pay a one-time community fee of $7,500 when moving into Oxford and then a corresponding monthly fee depending on the size apartment they reside in.

Communication with Resident's Families

We really don’t provide regular communication in an IL setting. As mentioned, we do have an “open-door policy” for family members, and that at the resident’s request we are happy to communicate with family members.

Short-term or Respite Stays

We do not offer short-term, or respite stays in Independent Living. If you would like to consider staying in a guest apartment for a few nights to “try it out” then we can discuss that further but otherwise, there is no option for a respite stay in IL.

Pet-Friendly Community

Yes, with some restrictions considering size and number of animals.

Waitlist and Availability

No, we are currently about 80% occupied and have availability with most floor plan styles. I am currently sold out of our largest 2-bedroom apartment and only have 1 of our studio sized apartment.

Vaccinations

Yes, we do offer booster clinics along with flu, RSV etc. coordinated through our Wellness Center.

Aging in Place

This is a question I would love to discuss in person or on the phone with you. Residents have options including privately paying to bring support into their independent living home or transitioning to a higher level of care either on campus or at another community. I would love to have you tell me more about your question so I can dive deeper into the options.
