Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Chief Executive Officer at Ocoee Health Care Center via email on 2024-08-02.
Could you provide an overview on the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
We have a large variety of professionals who work at West Orange center to create the interdisciplinary team. Physicians, advanced practice nurses, unit nurses, physical, speech & occupational therapist, dietitians, respiratory therapist, and social workers just to name a few. These professionals are given monthly and quarterly education at the center, in addition to the annual education required by the state of Florida for their professional licensure.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
We develop a patient specific, individualized care plan to address each unique person and their individual needs. The family & care givers are encouraged to join us as we create this plan of care for new residents. This plan is used daily and updated frequently to help meet the patient’s goals.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
We offer several programs and resources for a new patient applying to our community. West orange has a Concierge on site who can connect you with all our available resources. For example, our Market Director’s, will come to the hospital at your bedside to make sure all your clinical needs and information is communicated for a smooth transition into the center. We offer patients assistance from our financial team, a Medicaid specialist who can help navigate the difficult task of applying for nursing home Medicaid and one additional example is our vast medical / social services team who can help with any social needs the patient may have.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
We do have a facility van that can assist with follow up appointments and social events. We also contract with outside vendors in the area for special transportation needs.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
We offer a variety of options for meals and do our best to accommodate a patient specific diet. Dining can be in the large dining room or a smaller intimate setting depending on the care plan developed on admission.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
Family and guest are encouraged to work with the Social services director, Administrator, Director of Nursing, and care plan team to resolve any concerns or issues. We also have a compliance line and an outside state appointed ombudsman who can be of assistance.
What is the cost of living in your community?
Privately approximately 10,000 per month but this is very patient specific and most patients will qualify for some assistance with a state program like Medicaid.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
We have multiple systems for communications; these preferences are outlined in the admission care plan meeting.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
Yes, again this is patient specific.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
We allow service animals and pets who are vaccinated can visit with patients during the day.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, we offer all levels of care.
We do not typically maintain a waiting list for the center, most of our admissions come directly from the hospital.
