Community Details

Community Details

This detailed information was received through an email from the Marketing Director at Northridge Village via email on 2023-12-27.

1. Staff Overview and Training

Care partners are present in the community 24/7 at each location. They undergo intensive training with us, and most have previous experience in Healthcare. Memory Care (MC) staff receive additional dementia training initially and throughout the year, including Teepa Snow training. Certified Medication Aides (CMAs) dispense medications, and there is a nurse director overseeing each section.

2. Resident Safety and Well-being

Assisted Living (AL) is not a fully locked community, whereas MC is fully locked, with staff controlling entry and exit. AL residents have pendants to request staff presence. Both AL and MC have pull cords in their apartments and throughout the community for emergencies.

3. Transition Support Services

Our staff provides extra attention during the first week of a resident's move. We have a resident welcome committee to help new residents navigate the community. A Concierge staffs the front desk of our AL 7 days a week, assisting residents significantly.

4. Transportation Services

We offer two shopping trips per month and bus service to and from medical appointments within the Ames community on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Other trips and activities are scheduled occasionally.

5. Dining Experience

AL and MC residents are provided with three meals a day. We encourage communal dining to foster social connections. AL offers two meal options and an always available menu, while MC provides one choice per meal with an option for a simpler made-to-order plate.

6. Resident Complaints and Issues

We hold quarterly care conferences with each resident and their family. Issues can be addressed sooner by contacting the Nurse Director or the Executive Director. We value our partnership with residents and families and encourage them to bring forward any concerns.

7. Family Communication Policy

In urgent situations, we contact families through the emergency contact list provided at move-in, starting with phone calls, then texts, and emails if necessary. We maintain open communication channels for any issues or complaints.

8. Short-term or Respite Stays

While not common due to consistent full occupancy, we do offer short-term or respite stays with a 7-day minimum. Costs vary based on the level of care and services required.

9. Pet Policy

AL is pet-friendly for residents who can independently care for their pets without staff assistance. Unfortunately, MC does not allow pets.

10. Vaccinations

Residents can receive COVID, flu, and RSV vaccinations within the community if they are interested.

11. Aging in Place

Our goal is to facilitate aging in place whenever possible. While each situation is unique, we encourage the use of hospice and home health services to avoid unnecessary moves out of the community.

Current wait times for AL are approximately 6-9 months, and for MC, 3-6 months, though these estimates can change rapidly.
