Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Sales Director at New Perspective Columbia Heights via email on 2024-05-08.
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
Yes, we have three main roles on our care team. The first one would be our caregivers, they are going to be the ones that are handling our residents’ ADL (Activities of Daily Living) needs. The next would be our Medication Passers, they are ensuring that everyone is getting their correct medication at the correct time and dosage. Those are both 24/7 positions. Finally, we have our registered nurses, they are the ones managing our residents’ care plan and assessing anything outside of ADLs. Our RNs are on staff 8-5 M-F however we do have a triage nursing line that is 24/7 to respond to emergencies. Our care team goes through regular in person and online training, our caregivers are well known for being the best in the business!
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
Our community is filled with residents of varying abilities, so they are free to come and go (Except in our secure memory care unit). Our front doors lock whenever our concierge is not here after 6pm M-Sat and all-day Sunday. They will have a key to their room and caregivers to let them back in the building after hours. Having care staff here 24/7 allows the well-being of our residents to be constantly looked after.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
Of course! That would be apart of their care plan to make the transition as smooth as possible. We can help with escorts to meals and activities as well as general help navigating their new day to day.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Not really. We do have our own bus, but it is only used for activities. It really depends on what the transportation is needed for. We can help facilitate rides for medical appointments if there is a prior agreement to a service such as Metro Mobility.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
It is all restaurant style dining, you come sit at a table and we serve you! We have chef specials for lunch and dinner. If you are not a fan of the chef special we have a great alternative menu to choose from including cheeseburgers, soups, and sandwiches. Breakfast is very much like going to a diner, omelets to order, eggs any style, french toast, pancakes, and waffles.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
We have a concierge that can field complaints, we also have a complaint box outside our Executive Directors office. At New Perspective we also have an open-door policy, many of our residents feel comfortable to voice issues to our leadership team directly.
What is the cost of living in your community?
It really depends on the types of services and room style you choose. If I knew more about what you are looking for I could narrow it down.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
We try to keep families very up to date on how their loved one is doing. Our policy is to contact if there is any change in status, whether that be getting ill or having a fall. We highly encourage visiting and have an open-door policy with our leadership staff for any questions.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
We do not offer respite. Our community operates month to month so you are not locked into a certain term, we do ask for a 30 day notice prior to move out though.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Yes! We have a few dogs, cats, and even a bird! There is a small pet rent that you would pay per month.
Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
Yes, but only for certain room styles.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes, at least once a year!
Are residents able to age in place?
Absolutely, that is the whole reason we are here! The only time a resident would move is if there was a need for memory care.
