Could you provide an overview on the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
We have 3 nurses, a resident care coordinator, a scheduling coordinator, certified med techs, CNAs, and care managers. We have over 100 employees across all departments. We try to hire everyone with some sort of senior experience. They undergo an orientation week of training and state-mandated training courses. Then they will train with someone on the floor.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
I feel like this is a loaded question that can have many answers. What type of safety measures are you looking for? Employee background checks? Locked front doors? Cameras? Security guards? If residents are unhappy or not doing well then, we will meet with them and their family to try to figure out their needs and wants. We do not come across this very often, but it can happen. Depression is hard to diagnose in the elderly and sometimes medication is an option if they have lost a spouse or are going through hard changes.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
Sometimes families will stay with their loved one for the first week or so to help. The care team helps get them orientated to the community. We have a welcome committee that will meet them. You have the option to hire a one-on-one to be with them and help during the transition.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Yes, we do. Transportation is included in the rent every month and is not just for medical appointments. It is available Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. We ask that residents make the appointment 24-48 hours in advance so we can accommodate everyone.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
We have 2 dining rooms; they are open all day, from 7am-7pm. Full restaurant-style service.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
They can meet with someone directly or we have suggestion/concern boxes around the building where they can fill out a form and someone will meet with them to get the issue resolved.
What is your policy on communication with residents' families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
Every family is different and has their own preference. You can meet with the Wellness Director and Resident Care Coordinator, and they can help come up with a communication plan of your choosing.
Do you offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
At this time, we are not offering those services because we are at full occupancy. If we have more openings, then yes, we will. The cost is $250 a day for assisted living and $300 a day for memory care, with a 14-day minimum and 30-day maximum stay.
Are you a pet-friendly community?
Yes, we are.
Do you currently have a waitlist?
Yes, we do.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
We do a flu clinic and vaccine clinic every fall.
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, they are able to, as long as we can continue to take care of their needs.
