Community Details

Community Details

This detailed information was received through an email from the Community Relations Director at Morningside Of Athens via email on 2024-05-08.

Overview of Our Staff and Their Training

Our dedicated team is composed of the following professionals:
  • Elaine Anglin - Executive Director
  • Roxane Justice - Wellness Director (LPN)
  • Kawmina Wilson - Food Service Director
  • Chrissy Sorrells - Community Relations Director
  • Addison Segarra - Lifestyle Director
  • Nathan Roletter - Maintenance Director
  • Riley Walker - Receptionist (go-to for everything under the sun)
We also have Oaks Senior Living employees who are Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s) and Med Techs available around the clock. Each department head undergoes specialized role-specific training and all are required to stay updated on Relias training, CPR, and Fire Safety Training. Additionally, support groups visit the facility to offer further insights on varied topics.

Safety and Well-being Measures

To ensure the safety of our residents, our front door locks after hours, allowing entry only to residents, family members, and staff using a code. Inside the community, care partners perform rounds to check on residents every 2 hours, or more frequently if needed. Each resident receives a pendant on move-in to page us in case of an emergency or for any other needs.

Transition Support Services

Our directors and staff strive to make the transition into our community as seamless as possible, acknowledging that it can be a daunting experience for newcomers. We make efforts to get to know each resident personally and introduce them to like-minded individuals, fostering a welcoming and family-like environment.

Transportation Services

We provide transportation services within a 10-mile radius for outside appointments every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM to noon, included in the cost.

Dining Experience

Kawmina Wilson, our Food Service Director, prepares exceptional meals and desserts. Both staff and directors dine here, and an alternative menu is available for those who prefer different options from the scheduled meal.

Complaint Resolution Process

If a resident has a complaint or issue, they can speak directly with our Executive Director, Elaine Anglin, who is always available to address residents' concerns.

Cost of Living

The cost of living is subject to change and usually discussed after an assessment determines the appropriate level of care. We currently have a promotion: If you take financial possession on or before June 30, 2024, the next 30 days will cost $99, and the 13th month will be rent-free.

Communication with Families

Being a smaller community with only 40 apartments, our staff is well-acquainted with residents' families. We host at least one family event monthly and welcome family and friends as often as possible to ensure personalized communication and interaction.

Short-term or Respite Stays

Respite stays are available in a furnished studio apartment. Depending on the level of care, the cost is either $175/day or $250/day with a 14-day minimum.

Pet-friendly Policy

We allow pets, limited to one per apartment, with a $500 pet deposit.

Waitlist Status

Currently, we do not have a waitlist. We have a capacity of 40 residents and are currently housing 37, soon to be 38 residents.

Vaccination Availability

Residents can receive Covid and flu vaccinations through a physician who makes home visits to the community.

Aging in Place

Our goal is for residents to move in fairly independent and age in place within our community.
