Staffing
As far as staffing goes, we have trained resident care aides that provide resident care and pass medication. Some of our staff have their CNA license, but it is not required. Our nurse is our clinical director, we do not have nurses on every shift as we are not required to.
Memory Care Unit
Our memory care is a locked unit, so all the doors that have outside access can only be opened by a code. Our laundry room and storage rooms are also locked, and we have a video monitoring system throughout the memory care. We do one- or two-hour safety checks, depending on the needs of the resident and the preference of the family. We have had residents come to meals and activities about a week before moving in to help them with the transition process.
Transportation
We do provide transportation; we have a wheelchair van and a Chevy Equinox. The fee is $18 dollars per 15 minutes.
Dining
Our memory care has its own dining room, and staff sit with residents to assist them with eating, queuing, and reminding during their meals. Breakfast is made to order and cooked for them in the memory care kitchen. Lunch and dinner are prepared in our main kitchen on our assisted living and brought down to them and served. If they do not like the main meal option, the kitchen staff can make them something different.
Communication and Resolution
If a resident or family member has a complaint or concern, they can talk to myself or Jessica, our clinical director, and we will do our best to resolve the issue. We communicate with families mostly over the phone or in person. We always contact family about supplies they need, falls and incidents that may have occurred, or just general concerns about the resident. We also type progress notes on our residents, and families are more than welcome to see those. Families are also more than welcome to call anytime day or night to check on their family member and ask any questions they may have.
Waiting List and Vaccinations
We currently have a waiting list; it is $1,500 dollars to get on the waiting list and it is 100% refundable if the resident does not move in. We have a pharmacy that comes to us once a year, typically around September/October, and they administer flu and COVID vaccines.
Resident Aging
Residents can age here, and we work very closely with the hospice agencies in our area. We are currently full, but we will be having some movement in the next month or so.
