Facility Overview

The senior living community in question is a skilled nursing facility that offers specialized care, including a dedicated dementia unit. The facility provides both long-term care options and short-term respite care services.

Availability

Currently, there is a waitlist for the dementia unit, and no long-term beds are available at the moment. However, there are two beds available in the dementia unit for immediate occupancy.

Respite Care

Respite care is available for short-term stays with a minimum duration of five days. After the initial period, residents have the option to extend their stay on a pay-out-of-pocket basis.

Staffing and Medical Support

The facility is staffed with a range of healthcare professionals to ensure residents receive comprehensive care. This includes:

  • An RN who is the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) present every day
  • An RN serving as a unit manager on-site all day
  • An RN for infection control available every day
  • Floor nurses who are mostly LPNs, with an RN available on the night shift
  • Med techs utilized as necessary
  • A visiting physician, Dr. Boland, who comes in every Friday

Safety Measures

For safety, all residents have access to call lights in their rooms. However, the facility does not provide personal emergency pendants as it is a skilled nursing facility rather than an assisted living community.

Addressing Resident Complaints

If residents have complaints, they can speak to the social worker or file a formal grievance to have their concerns addressed.

Family Communication

Communication with residents' families is primarily conducted through phone calls, especially for important updates. The facility's visiting hours are from 8 AM to 8 PM, allowing families to visit their loved ones freely within this timeframe. Any changes to visiting hours or other important information are communicated directly by the nursing staff to the families.
