Levels of Care and Amenities

It is difficult for me to answer your questions as completely as you will want, because my answers will be dependent in some instances on what level of care the person is at here in the community. For example, independent living is really going be more like renting an apartment with additional amenities, such as one meal per day, activity calendar, rides to MD appointments (within a 15 mile radius). Conversely, assisted living or Memory Care will have more input by us and family for decision making, level of care etc.

Pricing and Support Details

Many of the answers to your questions, such as pricing on each level of care, rides to MD appointments, and supports in place are on the pricing sheets that I sent in my initial email. I have attached those again.

Medical and Staffing Requirements

Since we are licensed in CT for assisted living, we have requirements to have a resident care director for medical well being and care; which would be our Wellness Director Sarah. The regulations suggest that the Wellness director also has an RN designee to help with care plans, assessments, etc. Additionally, we have LPNs and CNAs that provide medication management, personal care, cues, etc to assisted living and to Memory Care residents. Our licensed staff all go through verification of their licensing and require updates for CEUS, etc per CT regulations. All staff go through background checks and additional requirements per their role here with the residents.

Security and Emergency Services

We have security in the building scheduled daily from 4pm- 8am. Additionally, we have pull cords in bathrooms and bedrooms in all apartments as well as having pendants with call button for assisted living and Memory Care. We also have indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras and secure locked Memory Care unit. Our residents have a nurse scheduled as well on all three shifts for emergency needs. We have generators if there is a power outage as well.

Resident Programming and Services

Our residents have access daily to programming that supports their emotional, social and physical well being in the activity schedule. Memory care has its own specially trained staff for activities as well. Residents have access to our continuum of services through our connection within Masonicare Network for homecare/hospice and palliative care services, behavioral health services inpatient and per visit, private hire aide services, and skilled nursing facility care (provided at our Wallingford location).

Social Work and Management Support

Masonicare at Mystic residents also benefit from our full time social worker, who helps new residents to get acclimated to living in our community, with additional support of each of the managers in the building. We all meet with new residents and provide them with our email, work numbers, etc for them to reach out with questions or concerns. We have a manager on duty for after hours and weekend/holiday coverage for emergencies.

Dining Services

Currently we have one dining room open daily for dinner and one dining room open for lunch. In independent living, they have full kitchens and one meal per day is included in the rental rate. For assisted living and Memory Care all meals are included in rental rates. Assisted living residents get breakfast brought to them in their apartment. In all cases, we have an “every day” menu that has basic items that residents can choose from. Additionally, we will daily specials for lunch and dinner daily as well.

Respite Stays and Pet Policy

We can offer respite stays on a space available basis for assisted living and Memory Care. Typically those are for 60 -90 days in length. Pets are permitted in our community as long as the resident can fully care for their pet. I have also included our pet policy for you to share with clients.

Availability and Waiting List

Currently we have some limited availability in assisted living and in Memory Care. We have a short waiting list in independent living for studios and one bedroom units. Our waiting list for two bedroom units is longer. Getting on any waiting list requires a prospective resident to complete our residency application and provide the requested financial data that is noted on the cover page of the application. We do not have an application fee at our site.
