Staff Training and Departments
We have a large number of staff in various departments: culinary, environmental services, housekeeping, clinical, and administrative. All staff complete training for aging adults including dementia care, first aid, privacy practices, and our clinical team undergoes extensive training for their roles. We have two full time registered nurses, CNA’s, RA’s, and home care staff who are held to a stringent standard based on the values of Presbyterian Homes and Services.
Safety Measures
Safety measures vary depending on the community that someone lives in. With Independent Living, we have a developed resident-led “I’m okay” program that does checks on resident’s who have opted in to this program. With AL and MC, it can be built into the care plan to have scheduled check ins.
Welcome Measures for Residents
We have a handful of measures for welcoming our residents into the community including social events, staff support (myself as the housing counselor checks in with residents and family to see what support may be needed), and other additional resources as needed.
Transportation Services
We have a bus that we are currently in the process of hiring a driver for. It was acquired in December and has needed mechanical adjustments. Otherwise, we offer “MyCarOnCall” which is a free taxi-like service for residents to utilize up to 4 times per month for instances such as grocery shopping, medical appointments, etc.
Dining Services
MSV offers lunch and dinner services in our IL community. This is offered restaurant style, where residents can sit down and have their order taken by culinary staff. We offer lunch and dinner in AL with similar services. MC has breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Meals in IL are ala carte, so they pay through their rent statement. AL and MC the meals are a part of the rental package.
Handling Complaints
MSV takes resident complaints seriously and addressed them on a case by case basis based on the confidentiality of the situation, the level of risk, and so on. We have a suggestion box, work order box and online system that tracks work orders. With senior management on site 5 days a week, administration handles complaints in a timely fashion. We hold an open door policy where residents are invited to openly discuss grievances with staff.
Family Communication
MSV will contact family members directly regarding well-being and will communicate as openly as the resident is comfortable with without breaking HIPPA. It is very common for MSV staff to be in touch with family and support teams regarding change of conditions for any of our residents.
Pet-Friendly Policy
We are a pet-friendly building.
Vaccination Clinic
Currently we offer a vaccination clinic in the fall every year.
Residency and Care Options
Due to not having licensure for enhanced assisted living, we are not able to provide AL care in our independent living community. Residents would need to move internally to our AL or MC communities. We do not have a waitlist for our senior apartments. Assisted Living has a waitlist for studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms. Memory Care has a waitlist for private suites and shared male suites.
