Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
It depends on the room size, but we currently have openings of Studios and 1-Bedrooms. Generally, openings come monthly, but if you want a specific location or a 2-bedroom then I would recommend the waitlist.
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
We have 2 full-time registered nurses, and an LPN. They oversee the nursing in our community and are responsible for the care that our CNA's provide. We have CNA's around the building 24/7 and a nurse is always in the building or on-call (generally nights and weekends). All of our staff are trained by our nurses or other caregivers before they can provide care on their own. We also have caregivers that are med-certified that can help pass medications to our residents. All of our staff also undergo dementia/memory care training as well.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
There would be a lot of ways to answer this question, but I can say that we work closely with state regulations. The state does unannounced surveys every 3 years, and these are public information. We have the best survey scores of any community in Idaho Falls. The survey primarily looks at the care of our nursing staff and the safety measures we have in place. Some examples include emergency pull cords in every resident room, the option for pendants that residents can bath with, these pendants can be pushed to call for help at any time. We do daily checks with all of our residents. We have elopement drills, fire drills, and ongoing staff training on various safety topics. We have protocols if we notice certain residents did not come down for meals, to check and ensure they are doing okay. We do assessments with all of our residents at least every 90 days to ensure needs don't go unnoticed. This is a question that would be great to bring up when we chat in-person or with our nurses as well.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
We rely heavily on our current residents for this. We have a committee of residents who are essentially ambassadors for Lincoln Court and act as a welcoming committee as well. These residents take it upon themselves to welcome residents and ensure they are invited to activities, have someone to sit with at meals, and have an opportunity to make friends. We also hold new-resident meetings where our residents can introduce themselves, get to know each other, and ask questions. We make sure all of our managers meet our new residents in their first couple days so they know who to go to for certain concerns.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Yes. We offer personal transportation to doctors appointments and personal errands. We have a town car and a bus with a lift. We also do group transportation with our bus to the grocery store weekly, as well as scenic drives and countless outings to various activities such as Yellowstone National Park, fishing, baseball games, dinner outings, museum trips, etc.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
We have a restaurant-style dining room that is open from 7am to 6pm. Residents can come any time. We have an all-day menu with various entrees and meal options. We also have specials that are served in mealtime slots every day to help give variety. Most residents come while the specials are served (7-9am, 11am-1pm, and 4-6pm). But residents can order from our all day menu at any time. I eat here at Lincoln Court every day, I really enjoy the food.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
Resident complaints are documented by our executive director and we ensure that we document the result/resolution of official complaints. If it is a family member that has the complaint, we follow-up with that family member. We also have unofficial avenues of feedback. One example would be our food-council meetings. Our executive chef holds meetings monthly where residents can take notes on our monthly menus, give feedback, request food items, and even complain about items they did not like. Our chef does a great job of using this feedback to improve our dining experience.
What is the cost of living in your community?
I would refer to the link in my initial email, click below to find our pricing sheet. It depends on room size and care needs. Rates generally start around $4k and can go up depending on room size and care needs. Rent and Care costs will generally cover everything they need. Food, utilities, cable television, transportation, activities, housekeeping services, etc.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
We have newsletters that go out to families regularly. We also call family any time there is a fall or resident incident. If cares or medications are being refused, etc. We also use a program called Life Loop, families can register for this and download an app. We send announcements regularly. We also take role at our activities and families can follow their family members and see what activities they are attending and also what our scheduled activities are to encourage your loved one to participate. We update families when there is a change in care, condition, and with any concerns we have.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
We do based on availability. Our contracts all require a 30-day written notice before move-out. So somebody could stay for a minimum of 30-days. Oftentimes we have model rooms where furniture can be borrowed for short-term stays.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Yes, but it is case by case. We just need to approve the animal coming and ensure that the resident or family can primarily care for the animal.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes, we generally have pharmacies that will come in and offer flu-shots/COVID shots. We can also provide transportation to these appointments.
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, we can just increase care levels as care needs increase. We also have a memory care for residents with dementia/Alzheimer's. We prioritize those rooms for current residents who may need that care in the future.
