Orientation and Training

Lighthouse has LPNs, RNs, and Caregivers. New hires are provided with two (2) days of orientation and one-on-one training in the area(s) they will be working. CNAs and NAs shadow one of our experienced staff members to learn more about each resident and what is expected of new hires.

Assisted Living and Security

In Assisted Living, all doors to the outside are locked; residents and their families are given codes/key fobs they can use to enter and exit the building at will. Guests (friends from church or old neighbors) into the AL community are granted entry by the Receptionists. Our Memory Cottages are lock-down units. Again, POAs have the codes and share the code with those in the family or friends they want to have access to their loved one. Lighthouse can never give the individualized codes to anyone! Lighthouse also has cameras in all public spaces (sitting areas, dining areas, parking lots, etc) which provides residents with an added level of comfort and security. Every resident at Lighthouse receives a pendant they wear whenever on the property. If they need assistance, they simply press the button and we know where they are.

Welcome Bags for New Residents

New residents in Assisted Living are provided welcome bags from our Resident Council. Included in each bag are a Resident Handbook, TV Guide to Senior TV that is provided as one of our amenities, a copy of the monthly newsletter, and the menu for the month. Because our Caregivers are available 24/7, they are readily available to our residents in both Assisted Living and in Memory Care.

Transportation and Activities

Lighthouse provides all of its residents transportation to and from doctor and dentist appointments. As part of our Activities, we go out to eat every other Wednesday and the Wednesdays we aren't eating out, we are shopping. We also love taking our Memory residents to the beach (after all, we are a beach community and these individuals love the beach)! We don't let them off the bus, but we will park and they get to see the water, the boats, people, and other vehicles. It is restful and exciting for them.

Dining Options

In Assisted Living, we offer restaurant-style dining in our Dining Room and also in the Cafe. Residents enter and sit wherever they would like, our servers greet them and take their orders, bring the food to them at one of the tables, and clear the dishes away afterward. Tipping is not permitted. In Memory Care, residents share one large dining table where staff brings them their meals; we will assist if they need help eating. Our food is excellent as our chefs prepare two specials for lunch and two for dinner; breakfast is ala carte. If, however, the resident prefers, they can also order off the menus for a wider selection of food items available.

Handling Complaints and Comments

Residents who have a complaint or comment should first approach the nurse in their area providing as much information as they can. We also provide surveys for our residents so they can make known any issues they want to share anonymously. And, although not the preferred, our receptionists are happy to help with concerns the residents might have.

Family Communication

We are so blessed to have some amazing residents with very supportive families. Our nurses are the only ones who can provide families with updates on their loved ones.

Respite Care

Lighthouse does offer respite care at the rate of $600/day. All medical requirements must be met as for any of our long-term residents.

Pet Policy

Pets are important to our residents especially if they have had their dog or cat for a lot of years. We are pet-friendly; pets must be 15-lbs or less and owners must be able to walk them, groom them, pick up after them, and control them. Shot records must be kept on premises.

Wait List

Currently, Lighthouse does have a Wait List for our men's Memory Cottage and as of this morning, I have one (1) female on the Wait List for a spot in the Women's Cottages.

Vaccination Policy

We do not require new residents coming into our Lighthouse community to be vaccinated against Covid. We work with our local community-owned hospital to come in annually to offer Flu shots to our community residents.

Continuum of Care

Having just opened our Independent Living community, we now offer a continuum of care allowing residents to start in Independent Living and then move to Assisted Living and finally to Memory Care, should they need that level of more intense care. We are not, however, a Skilled Nursing Center and therefore can not accommodate anyone with a feeding tube, colostomy, trach, etc.

We love our Lighthouse residents and their families and welcome visits from them at any time. We even allow our residents to invite them to spend the night and dine with us. After all, we are one big family!

Independent Living

We have more flexibility in our Independent Living Patio Homes which just opened in January. Out of 18 total units, we currently have ten (10) available.

Assisted Living

There are only two (2) available suites in Assisted Living.

Memory Care

We do have wait lists for our Memory Cottages.
