Overview on the Types of Professionals on Our Staff and the Training They Undergo at Our Facility
Our professional Assisted Living Care Team consists of a full-time RN-Director, LPN/RNs floor nurses for medication and wellness management, and Certified Nurse’s Aides/Resident Care Partners. We have 8-hours of new hire orientation and annually scheduled trainings and re-trainings. Additionally, there are 16 hours of on-the-floor training and 4 hours of specific Alzheimer’s training.
Measures to Ensure the Safety and Well-being of Residents
We follow the Illinois Department of Health regulations on all mandated safety requirements to keep our residents safe at all times. Our Assisted Living setting is structured to lend itself to the overall safety and well-being of residents' changing needs by formulating and following an individualized service plan which is reviewed regularly. We have professionally trained staff on-site 24/7, and our entire community has 24/7 security on-site as well. Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, our nearest hospital, is 3 miles away. We conduct regularly scheduled fire, tornado, and disaster drills and training. Our front entrance doors are locked at 8 pm each night and opened again at 6:30 am. If a family visits after those hours, they can call from the lobby for our security officer to assist them. All visitors must enter and exit through our front doors and sign in and out at the Concierge desk. Security makes regularly scheduled rounds in and around the perimeter of the community 24/7.
Resources or Support Services to Aid Residents' Transition into the Community
We offer a number of local resources such as realtors, senior down-sizing specialists, and moving companies to help make the transition process smooth for new residents.
Transportation Services for Residents
We provide transportation for medical appointments within an eight-mile radius which must be booked in advance. Scheduled trips and outings, including shopping, church, and other activities, are also offered. We ask that a responsible party or family member accompany residents who cannot navigate on their own. Our bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift.
Dining Experience
Residents enjoy three meals daily in a beautifully decorated dining room served by waitstaff. They can choose from daily entrée specials or other menu options prepared by our executive chef and his culinary team. Seasonal fare, locally sourced when possible, is provided. Three nutritious meals, healthy snacks, beverages, and hydration stations are available throughout common areas. Our Executive Chef hosts a monthly Chef’s Table Talk where he demonstrates an iconic culinary item and provides samples.
Process for Addressing Resident Complaints or Issues
We follow a grievance process where the resident or family shares their concern with the department Director. If unresolved, the issue is elevated to the Executive Director and Senior Vice President of Operations. As a family-owned entity, communication is open, and issues are resolved in a timely manner. We also comply with the Illinois Department of Public Health regulations regarding grievances.
Communication with Resident's Families
After a resident has been with us for 30 days, an assessment is performed to ensure the accuracy of their determined level of care. Regularly scheduled annual Individual Care Plan meetings are held with the resident’s Power of Attorney for Healthcare, with additional meetings as needed upon observed changes or family requests.
Short-term or Respite Stays
We offer short-term or respite stays based on availability and standard Assisted Living admission requirements. Respite suites are for a 30-day stay, pre-paid in full, fully furnished with flat linen service, and include all Assisted Living amenities and services. The cost is currently $200.00 per day, flat fee.
Pet-friendly Policy
We are a pet-friendly community for Independent Living. For Assisted Living, our Executive Director reviews pet requests on a case-by-case basis, adhering to regulatory guidelines.
Waitlist Information
The waitlist status depends on the style and size of the apartment and its availability. We do not currently have a waiting list for some studio and one-bedroom apartment styles.
Vaccination Services
We offer COVID vaccinations if needed and flu vaccinations on an annual basis.
Aging in Place
Our goal is to provide a supportive environment that allows our residents to be successful in their place in our continuum of care. We offer levels of care for residents if it is in their best interest to move within the continuum.
