Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
We have a waitlist for our Independent Living neighborhood but our Assisted and Memory Care neighborhoods have availability.
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
Clinical Staff
- 2 Registered Nurses (both Directors that oversee the Clinical Department)
- Resident Care Assistants (Certified Nurses Aides) who are certified by the State of Connecticut after meeting the state education requirements for certification
- Licensed Practical Nurses who oversee the RCA’s and provide medication management to Residents who elect
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
Assisted living residents are independent at some level and require help with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs); Our RCA provide assistance based on a resident assessment that dictates what level of care/assistance is needed. Safety is shared in the sense that our residents have the cognitive ability to know when to call for help and what the limit of their abilities are. We implement census checks during the night (if needed) to ensure residents are safe. There is a RN on call 24/7/365
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
While we do not have an ‘official’ transition program, it is our culture and practice to engage all new residents daily. They receive daily census checks and escorts from the clinical team for their first several weeks so they can learn the community layout and meet their neighbors. Our activities staff are actively involved in ensuring new resident are engaged and encouraged to attend activities throughout the day.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
We offer limited transportation services to local MD appointments. We make every effort to accommodate a scheduled appointment. If a resident requires an escort by a RCA we ask that appointments be made between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM as shift change becomes challenging. Residents who do not require a RCA are asked not to make appointments after 3:00 PM
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
Our dining room serves 3 hot meals per day for assisted and memory care residents as well as a generous continental breakfast and choice of 1 hot meal (lunch or dinner) for our independent residents. We operate in restaurant style with a chef staffed kitchen, menus and servers. There are daily specials as well as our standard “always available” menu. Our dining director meets with new residents to discuss dietary concerns. We also have a food committee that meets to discuss suggestions and provides feedback.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
The first point of contact should always be the Executive Director. They will address and escalate, if needed, as well as involve other team members or home office senior management to bring an acceptable resolution to the resident.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
Our clinical and director team will communicate only with the resident or POA on record. Family notification will happen if a resident refuses care, is isolating, is exhibiting a change in behavior or if any incident should occur that required medical intervention. Calls will be made to POA’s during the day between 6:00AM and 5:00 pm unless otherwise noted in the Medical Record. If a resident is transported to the hospital for any reason, a call to the POA will happen in real time.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
We do offer respite stays. The cost is based on our monthly rent and is determined by the length of stay. Our typical respite stay is one month.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
We love our community pets! We welcome properly vaccinated cats and dogs (up to 25 lbs) in the assisted and independent communities. It is the sole responsibility of the resident to manage their pets.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
We hold vaccine clinics once or twice a year and a local pharmacy will provide vaccines to residents that sign up
Are residents able to age in place?
Residents are able to age in place with the proper support system in place. It is important to note that care is not one on one in assisted or memory care so there may be instances when private aides or other services such as Hospice should be engaged. We have a waitlist for our Independent Living neighborhood but our Assisted and Memory Care neighborhoods have availability.
