Long-term Care

We have both semi-private and private rooms (most of the rooms in the facility are private, though). The daily room & board rate for a private room is $370.00 and $355.00 for a semi-private room. This equates to an approximate monthly cost of $11,100.

For long-term care, we do transition private pay residents to Medicaid once funds are spent down enough to be eligible to apply. Our business office currently works with a company called Iowa Senior Planning to assist families with the process and make it as easy as possible.

We do not have any specific requirements for long-term care, but would first need to review a completed financial application and then clinical information in order to determine if we would be able to accept.

Assisted Living

We also offer assisted living at Kahl, and do currently have units available. We only accept private pay for assisted living at this time, and the pricing is $150/day (studio) and $190/day (1-bedroom). There are also additional monthly costs depending on the level of care and medication management needs.

Level 1

Included in Rent: No assistance to set up/stand by and very minimal hands-on with ADLs

Level 2

$500/month: Moderate – hands on assist with most all daily dressing, bathing, hygiene and/or oxygen usage/cpap/bipap, etc.
Includes all of Level 1

Level 3

$700/month: Includes all of 1 & 2, but the level of assist is moderate to extensive with all ADLs and they need assistance with Cath care/oxygen usage/cpap/bipap, etc.

Ancillary Rates

Guest Meals: Breakfast $5, Lunch $10, Dinner $10

Each additional Load of laundry: $10 each

Sick room trays: $5 each

Replacement Key: $25 per event

Transfer Fee per person (if not medically necessary): $250 each event

Maintenance (15 min. increments): $15

Medication Level Monthly Fees

Medication Level Price Per Occupant and Description of Services

Level 1

Included: Tenant and/or Tenant’s family manages all medications/set up/ordering etc. Medications stored in tenant’s room.

Level 2

$200/Month: Kahl Home provides weekly set up of medication and reminders if requested. Medications stored in tenant’s room. Med-aide/nurse will set up weekly in med-minder box supplied by tenant. Kahl Home preferably will order medications.

Level 3

$300/month: Kahl Home manages and administers all medications for tenant. Kahl Home orders medications from Main Healthcare Pharmacy.

Level 4

$400/month: Kahl Home administers any injections or obtains blood sugars and manages insulin regardless of other medications. Kahl Home orders medications from Main Healthcare Pharmacy.

Occupant Pharmacy Fee

$150/month (if not using facility preferred pharmacy)

Occupant Managed Medication Packaging Fee

$150/month (if not punch card packed)

We do not currently have a waitlist

We will have to ensure that any open room is clinically appropriate for each resident.
