FAQs
Do you guys currently have a waitlist? NO
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility? Juniper Aurora is a Standalone Memory Care Community that focuses only on Dementia/Alzheimer’s. We have 48 units and can hold a total of 52 residents. The staff here are truly amazing! We have 7 staff members who have been here for 15+ years!!! This speaks volumes! We have 3 Full time nurses here. There is a licensed nurse in the community 7 days a week and a licensed nurse on call 24/7. Each person who is hired on receives 8+ hours of training right away. Thereafter everyone is trained monthly. We also hold staff meetings 1x a month. We have our own Medical Doctor here on staff, Dr. William Solomon. He has been following this community for 24+ years. He lives 2 miles down the road so whenever there is a new admit or a med change, he is here within minutes.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents? We are a fully secured Community. No one can get in or out without a code. All doors alarm so we are notified right away. We round the community every couple hours and we do courtyard checks whether permitting hourly.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community? WE AT JUNIPER ARE THE SUPPORT. I also hold a Dementia Support Group here the 2nd Monday of every month. Juniper Village at Aurora is unique for the reason that we focus on a small home like model. We have four small homes under 1 big room. Each home has 12 apartments, their own living room, kitchen, dining room and small outside courtyard. This is purposely set up to make the transition a lot smoother, so they don’t become too overwhelmed. As we know most people come from a home like setting, so this makes the transition much smoother. Each home has 2 staff members – ratio 2:12. We have a caregiver and a QMAP. QMAPS are qualified med techs that pass the meds. They also provide care when needed. Each home also has their own laundry room and shower room so not all 52 residents are sharing one.
Do you offer transportation services for residents? We do outings here at Juniper but family is responsible for taking residents to any specialty doctors. The majority of our residents are followed by Dr. Solomon, so all services are done right here in the community. We also have Therapy here on site; Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience? As I stated above, Juniper Village focuses on a small home like model. Our job is to meet the resident where they are at in their disease and help them to be as successful as possible for the time they have remaining. Each home has their own kitchen and a steam table. There is one main kitchen, and each meal is then carted to each kitchen. There are 2 options for breakfast and lunch and 1 option for dinner. We also have an “always available” menu for times if/when the resident doesn’t prefer the options.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed? Process for this would be to address any complaints/concerns with the Executive Director directly and if you feel it is not to your satisfaction, you then will contact the Ombudsman who is the Resident Advocate.
What is the cost of living in your community? Our price starts at $7720 for a shared/companion room and $8715 - $8925 for a private room depending on which one you went for. We do have a Level of Care on top of that. That is determined based on the Assessment we must do on your loved one. My nurse goes out to the home and lays eyes on the resident to get a better idea of what he/she can or can not do on their own.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being? We do have a Medical Concierge – Alba. She has been here for 25 years. Everyone here at Juniper OVER COMMUNICATES! We feel is vital to communicate to our loved one’s families. We also have a care conference throughout where you will discuss everything clinical with the nurse, medical concierge as well as Dr. Solomon if you would like him to be present. We are also rolling out a resident portal where you as the family member will be able to get access to where you can see what your loved one has been up to for the day and the activities that they have joined in.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost? We do offer respite stay but do require a 30-day minimum. Respite stay is $350 a day.
Are you all a pet-friendly community? YES – if the animal is up to date on vaccines. We also have Pet Therapy here, so we do animal visits.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community? YES – we do flu/covid clinic here as needed.
Are residents able to age in place? We are End of Life. We want this to be their last stop. We provide hospice here when the time comes. NO
