Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Sales Director at Jerome Home via email on 2024-05-09.
Could you provide an overview on the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
Our staff includes the Director of Nursing, Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and licensed Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). All staff undergo regular training throughout the year.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
Our main front desk is manned from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm and buzzes in the sole other public entry. After hours, a phone number is provided, which is answered by the nursing supervisor. All other entrances utilize an employee badge system. We also have a wander guard system if necessary. Our two memory care neighborhoods are both secure and have secure courtyards.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
Our full-time resident service coordinator regularly checks in with new residents. We have an ambassador program in which current residents take new residents under their wing. We offer Supportive Care for any behaviors, anxiety, depression, etc.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
This is listed in the collateral.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
This is always discussed during in-person tours. Our food is prepared in-house; we do not utilize a food service agency.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
Family and residents are given all relevant names, titles, and phone numbers of not only administration but CT state agencies as well. This is provided in their resident agreement. Family and residents are also given a Resident Handbook with the same information. We follow all state mandated guidelines with regard to complaints. We have monthly resident council meetings where department directors discuss happenings within their department, and residents have an opportunity to discuss compliments and complaints or concerns. We also have monthly dining committee meetings with residents and our dining director.
What is the cost of living in your community?
I do not know the cost of living in the city of New Britain.
What is your policy on communication with residents' families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
Besides the 120-day care plan meetings, all department directors, resident service coordinator, director of nursing, and our executive director all offer an open-door policy and ease of either phone or email access.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
We don’t keep rooms open for respite but do offer if available and appropriate. We require a one month minimum, and the cost is $200 per day.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Indoor cats can be considered with a $1500 non-refundable fee at move-in. Residents must be able to 100% care for the pet, feed, and clean litter box, and pets must have all relevant shots. We aren’t in an appropriate location for dogs.
Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
My facility does have a waitlist.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
During the height of the pandemic, we were offering Covid vaccines to our residents, but no longer. We offer flu vaccines once a year.
Are residents able to age in place?
As much as is possible, yes. We do not use hoyers, sera lifts, or belts. We are not 1:1 care. Residents must be able to dial their own oxygen and inject themselves with insulin if applicable, or they can bring in a private duty caregiver. As an Assisted Living Community in the state of CT, we cannot accept Medicaid.
