Understanding ALP Assisted Living Residence
We are an ALP Assisted Living Residence, what that means is that Medicaid Insurance covers all of the care in our facility and a resident's social security income covers the room and board. So, as long as someone is on both Medicaid Insurance and also social security income, I will be able to move that person into the facility. A person also should have a need to be in Assisted Living.
Eligibility for Social Security Income Boost
If someone is making less that $1,637 in social security income, that person will become eligible for a boost in their social security income when they move to Island Assisted Living. They become eligible for that boost for being in our type of facility we are called a congregate care level 3 facility.
How the Process Works
So, when the person moves in, our case management team will work directly with the new resident to help them apply for the additional funding. This will boost the new resident's social security up to $1,637 per month covering our room and board which is $1,388 per month for a double occupancy room, so a two person room with a roommate; and then this will provide the resident with the difference as pocket money each month which is $249.

1. Staff and Training Overview
We have licensed Home Health Aides available around the clock to assist residents with activities of daily living. They check on their assigned residents at least once per shift, ensuring each resident is checked on a minimum of three times in a 24-hour period. Licensed nurses are present during business hours every day. Upon a new resident's arrival, our Director of Nursing conducts an initial assessment to develop a care plan, in collaboration with our primary care practitioner and specialists, including cardiologists, neurologists, and more. Med technicians manage medication, and we offer Physical and Occupational Therapy five days a week.
2. Transportation Services
We offer transportation to outside doctor's appointments and organize trips to restaurants, stores, or movie theaters 2-3 times a month. Our facility also hosts daily activities for residents to enjoy.
3. Dining Experience
Our dining hall serves three meals a day plus two nutritious snacks, with menus prepared by a dietitian. Meals are served restaurant-style, and substitutions are available for those who dislike the menu options. Attendance is taken to ensure all residents are eating properly.
4. Addressing Complaints and Issues
Our case management team, available five days a week, maintains an open door policy for resident complaints and issues.
5. Cost of Living
As an ALP Assisted Living Residence, Medicaid covers care costs, and a resident's social security income covers room and board. Residents earning less than $1,637 in social security income are eligible for a boost, ensuring their room and board costs are covered, with the remainder provided as pocket money.
6. Communication with Residents' Families
Our case management team facilitates communication with residents' families, keeping them updated on their loved ones' well-being.
7. Short-term or Respite Stays
We do not offer short-term or respite stays, as we are a long-term care facility.
8. Pet Policy
Pets are not allowed in our Assisted Living community.
9. Covid and Flu Vaccinations
Covid and flu vaccinations are regularly offered to our residents.
10. Aging in Place
As a congregate care level 3 facility, residents needing higher levels of care than we can provide will need to transition to a more suitable facility.
Medicaid Insurance covers all care costs, and social security income covers room and board for eligible residents. We currently have beds available and do not have a waitlist.
