Welcome to The Highlands on the East Side

The Highlands is a warm and welcoming assisted living community that offers a blend of comfort, care, and active living. Our community is designed to provide a variety of services to meet the individual needs of each resident.

Accommodations and Availability

We offer spacious one-bedroom apartments for our residents. Currently, there is availability in assisted living, while our memory care section has a waitlist. Our apartments are designed with the comfort and safety of our residents in mind.

Respite Care

For those in need of short-term stays, we offer respite care services. The pricing for respite care is consistent with our standard rates, and we typically have availability, although our respite furniture is currently being lent out.

Pet Policy

We understand the importance of companionship, which is why our community is pet-friendly. Residents are welcome to bring their pets as long as they can maintain them independently.

Moving Assistance

While we do not provide direct assistance with moving, we can offer recommendations to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Transportation Services

Our community provides transportation services for our residents on Tuesdays, with a radius of 10 miles, ensuring access to local amenities and appointments.

Dining Experience

We offer a restaurant-style dining experience with three meals a day. Our culinary team is adept at accommodating dietary preferences, including vegetarian options, to ensure that all residents enjoy their meals.

Staffing and Medical Care

Our community is staffed with four dedicated nurses, including a resident care director. While we do not have doctors on staff, as we are not a nursing home, we do have a doctor who visits biweekly. Additionally, we employ certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and medication technicians (med techs), all of whom are certified by the state and have undergone the necessary training to provide care for our residents.

Safety and Security

Resident safety is a top priority at The Highlands. We provide pendants for residents to call for assistance when needed. The main entrance is locked in the evening after the receptionist leaves at around 7 PM, with a phone available in the entryway for visitors to gain access after hours.

Resident Feedback and Communication

We value the opinions and feedback of our residents. To facilitate this, we hold a resident council meeting once a month where residents can voice their concerns. For immediate issues, such as those related to dining, residents can speak directly with the food service director or our executive director. We also have a suggestion box located near the mailboxes for additional feedback.

Family Communication

Communication with residents' families is important to us. Families can reach out to us via phone calls or emails to stay informed about their loved ones' well-being and community updates.
