Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Marketing Director at Hickory Valley via email on 2024-03-25.
Waitlist and Fees
We do have a waitlist; it is a $1,000 fee and goes toward the community fee of $2,000.
Staff and Services
We have RNS, LPNs, med techs, and care aides on staff, along with the management team, housekeepers, maintenance, activities, and dining services department.
We have nursing staff in the building 24/7, along with two daily checks in independent living and checks every 2 hours in assisted living.
Welcoming New Residents
We introduce new move-ins to residents through a new resident social, attempting to make the move easier for the new move-in. It usually takes about 60 days to get fully acclimated.
Transportation and Dining
Transportation is provided M-F to doctor’s visits, once a week to grocery stores.
Residents get different menu options along with an “Always Available” menu if they do not like what is on the menu for that week.
Communication and Management
Our general manager holds a monthly meeting to speak with residents on any concerns they may have. She also has an open-door policy if residents would like to have a meeting with her.
Residents get memos for any updates; family members are also updated as well; it really depends on if a resident lives independently versus assisted.
Lease and Accommodation
The lease is month to month, so a short-term lease is an option with a 30-day move-out notice, however, residents do provide their own furniture, so short-term stays are quite infrequent.
Pet Policy
We are pet friendly, there is a one-time, nonrefundable fee of $1,000 and the pet must be 40 lbs. or less along with immunization records provided.
Health Services
We typically have a flu clinic once a year.
Living Options
We offer both independent and assisted living options. Aging in place varies from resident to resident. If a resident needs a higher level of care (more than a one person assist, exit-seeking, dangerous behaviors to themselves or others), we will assess and make that decision collectively.
Hickory Valley: More Than Just a Retirement Community
Hickory Valley stands out as not just a retirement community but an active and caring family. Our community boasts 118 apartments, including 103 independent and 15 assisted living apartments, offering seven different floor plans. Each apartment features a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator. Our facilities include a beauty salon, chapel, activities room, library, and billiard/card game rooms.
Independent Living with Peace of Mind
In our Independent Wing, we conduct multiple daily safety checks to ensure a secure environment, providing peace of mind for both our residents and their families.
Inclusive Amenities for All Residents
All residents enjoy a comprehensive package with their monthly rent, which includes 3 meals per day in the dining room, weekly housekeeping, maintenance, utilities (electricity, water, Xfinity cable, EPB Wi-Fi; phone services not included but landline-ready), scheduled transportation to doctor’s appointments, and a vibrant schedule of daily activities, programs, and events.
Assisted Living: Comprehensive Care
Our Assisted Living wing offers the same amenities as above, plus an all-inclusive care system at a flat monthly rate. This includes assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, medications, daily light housework, and laundry. Residents receive hands-on care every two hours or more if needed, along with an emergency pendant for added security.
What Sets Us Apart
- Independent Living residents can opt for "a la carte" additional services for various activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and medication reminders, allowing for an independent lifestyle with minimal assistance.
- Our community offers both Independent and Assisted Living, enabling residents to transition to Assisted Living while remaining in the same building, preserving friendships.
- Assisted Living care aides/nurses respond to Independent Living emergencies, ensuring prompt assistance.
- Our building is staffed 24/7, providing round-the-clock assistance if needed.
- Free transportation to doctors and medical appointments is available five days per week.
- On-site chapel with bible studies or services offered at least five days per week.
- Regular exercise classes are held at least five days per week, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
