Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Senior Sales Director at Heatherwood Retirement Community via email on 2024-08-07.
Could you provide an overview on the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
LPN, Registered Medication Aides, and Caregivers – each team member is required to complete 15 hours of training annually in regards to resident care, resident incidents, emergencies, and dementia care. Registered Medication Aides receive bi-annual refresher courses. LPN, Registered Medication Aides, and Caregivers are all First Aid and CPR certified.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
Each resident (Independent living or Assisted living) wears a pendant that tracks where they are in the community and on the external grounds. There are emergency pull cords in resident bathrooms and bathrooms throughout the community. In our Memory Care, we have motion sensors that pick up when a resident moves to make attempts to decrease potential falls.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
Yes, we have an ambassador program where the management team is responsible for collectively spending 16 hours with the new resident to help them acclimate to the community.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Yes, it is included in the fee and we are able to take them anywhere within 10 miles.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
Our residents enjoy 3 meals a day in our restaurant-style dining room.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
They can meet with the Department Manager or Executive Director. Additionally, they can attend the numerous council meetings that we have such as: Life Enrichment Programming Council, Culinary Council, and Resident Council.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
Executive Director sends out weekly newsletters to all residents and families via email. Additionally, the nursing department informs families and residents with change of care or change of status as needed.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
Yes, we do. It is a minimum of 30 days and maximum of 90 days. We will waive the community fee up until the 91st day. The exact cost would be based on what's available at the time. For a studio, it would be approximately $7,634. For a 1 bedroom, it would be approximately $8,937. They are fully furnished.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Yes, we are. We also have a signature program called Leash On Life where we will take care of the pet for an additional fee. We can walk the dog, feed the animal, etc.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes, we host an annual Flu and COVID Clinic at the community in partnership with CVS pharmacy. If a resident is unable to attend, we can provide transportation to receive the vaccination.
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, all of the residents live together and all of the apartments look the same so a resident can move into our Independent Living and if they ever need help with their Activities of Daily Living, we just add on a Level of Care so they do not ever have to leave their apartment. We are not currently on a waitlist.
