Staffing
We have LPN, QMA, and CNA clinical staff. The Director of Nursing in an LPN who supervises all the clinical staff. All are licensed through the State. We have ongoing in-house in-services including CPR, pharmacy review of medications for accuracy, diabetes management, etc. We have a Nurse Practitioner who functions are primary care for most residents. Each resident has the right to choose their own physician. We have annual surveys by the State Board of Health.
Safety/Wellbeing
We have emergency pullcords in the bathrooms of each apartment. Each resident is issued an emergency pendent as well. We have 24-hour staffing to answer call lights. Entrances are secured and coded. An intercom is located at the front entrance to allow staff to monitor visitors after the offices close in the evenings. This does not limit visitation, but it allows staff to know who is in the building. Nursing does an initial 24-hour care plan to make sure residents' needs are met. There are no stairs in the community, we offer exercise and social activities to encourage continued health and socialization.
New Residents
Each department takes responsibility for welcoming the new residents. We also have Resident Ambassadors who help make new residents feel welcome. We escort to meals, activities, crafts, etc.
Transportation
We have a community bus which provides transportation to medical appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays within a 10-mile radius of the community. The bus is also used for shopping trips and activities and is wheelchair accessible.
Dining Services
We serve 3 meals daily, restaurant style. All meals are prepared in-house. We have a Chef’s special along with an “Always Available” menu. Servers take orders like in a restaurant. Snacks are provided throughout the day.
Complaints
Any complaint is addressed immediately by the Executive Director, depending on which department or departments are involved, the Department Head also becomes responsible for assisting in the solution. We take a statement and open an investigation, discuss the findings with resident and/or family and agree on a solution. There is a Resident Council meeting held monthly to discuss anything the residents wish. Most discussions are about what items they would like to see added or removed from the menu and suggestions for activities or entertainment. This meeting is run by an elected group of residents.
Cost of Living
Cost is based on monthly income and level of care. Base rentals range from $850 to $1,451 per month. Cost of care begins at $3,300 per month. If the resident has Medicaid Waiver, the cost of care is fully covered by that program. Cable and Wifi is $66 per month. Meals and all other utilities are included.
Communication
We have regular care plans with families and updates on any changes. The protocol is to have an emergency contact for each resident. Any health changes or 911 situations are communicated immediately. Nursing is always available to answer questions or concerns.
Respites
Case by case and usually 2 weeks minimum. Daily cost is $175.
Pets
Small pets are always welcome to reside with the residents. The care of the pet is the resident’s responsibility. Proper vaccination records are required. Vaccinated pets are always welcome to visit.
COVID/FLU
We provide annual clinics for COVID/FLU vaccines; and can arrange for individuals as needed.
Aging in Place
Residents are welcome to continue to live with us if we can meet their clinical needs. We do not provide Skilled Nursing Level of Care. Based on residents' Advanced Directives, we can assist with Hospice service referrals to allow the resident to remain in their apartment.
We currently have a few open studio apartments but are on a waitlist for 1-bedroom apartments.
