Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Director of Sales and Marketing at Forest Ridge Assisted Living via email on 2024-10-01.
Our Team
Our team consists of a Registered Nurse who also spent many years as an ER nurse. She oversees all the Resident Care Coordinators, Medication Technicians (Med Tech), Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.) and Personal Care Aides (P.C.A.).
C.N.A.s must take a class with a licensed college to become a C.N.A. In addition, they are trained by our Supervisors in Charge (SIC) and must spend at least 5 hours in our memory care neighborhood to learn more about caring for individuals living with dementia. Our C.N.A.s and P.C.A.s can work to become a Med Tech. They must apply for the position and have two referrals from in-house team members. This is also the way they become an SIC.
Our RN conducts multiple trainings throughout the year and our multiple healthcare partners, from home health to hospice, therapy and more, provide in-service trainings as well.
Our executive director is also a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Both of our life enrichment directors are C.N.A.s.
Resident Welcome and Care
When we welcome new residents, our RN assesses that person and their needs prior to a move-in. She determines all the assistance they need and decides if we can provide it effectively and safely. Our staff completes checks on each resident, according to their care plan, and it can be from every 15 minutes up to 2 hours. We abide by the nurse and doctor’s orders.
Our residents’ mental and physical health is monitored by our clinical team. We try to learn as much as we can about each new individual so that we can cater their care, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Security and Health Services
We have locked entrances to our community and codes to enter and exit our memory care. We always staff at our regulations and one above when we can. We have access to home health, therapy, palliative, hospice, mental health and counseling services who are available to serve our residents. We also have a physician who is on-call to us and visits every other week, unless needed sooner. There are a few other doctors in town who make visits to our community to see residents.
Medical transportation in our van or wheelchair accessible bus is provided for residents in our county and 4 other counties surrounding us.
Dining Services
Our dining director has been with us for more than 16 years. She does an amazing job. We have at least 2 entrees to choose from each day with set items always available. She introduces herself to new residents and explains our dining options and gets to know what they like. We can follow special diets as ordered by doctors.
Complaints and Concerns
With complaints or concerns, residents can contact any C.N.A., P.C.A., SIC, RN, any management team member and/or the executive director. The concerns are passed up to the appropriate person or that person will visit a resident or family member in the privacy of their office or the resident’s room. We ensure they have numbers to state and local governing agencies as well as the Ombudsman for our area.
Rates and Availability
Our rates begin at $4,585 and depend on the level of care needed and room choice. Family members and responsible parties are kept up-to-date by phone calls, emails and care plan meetings.
If space is available, we can offer respite or short-term stays. The cost begins at $250 per day, but it does depend on level of care and room choice.
Pet Policy
We are a pet-friendly community. Residents can own animals as long as they can manage their care. They must pay a pet deposit. Pets are also allowed to visit. We must have up-to-date shot records.
Waitlist and Vaccinations
We do have a waitlist for private rooms. Our pharmacy typically comes and holds a flu clinic every year, providing vaccines with the request of the resident and approval by their doctor. If a resident wants the Covid vaccine, we can set up an appointment and transportation to have it done.
Aging-In-Place Philosophy
Anytime that we can allow residents to age-in-place, we try to do so. We can work with palliative, home health, private sitters, and other professionals to allow our residents to stay with us as long as possible. There are some regulations that require we refer to higher levels of care, so we must stay within those various guidelines and recommendations.
Commitment to Improvement
I write all the above but add that we are not perfect. We are capable of mistakes, residents can fall and mistakes can be made; however, we immediately report any concerns, issues, mistakes, etc. to our county DSS monitor, the area ombudsman or other agency, as needed.
Please let me know if I can help you or your family.
