Welcome to Charlestown
For over 40 years, Charlestown has been the community of choice in the Baltimore area for those ages 60 and over to live independently. With access to numerous activities and amenities within our 110-acre campus, approximately 2,000 people call Charlestown home. If needed, residents have access to assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and short-term rehab. Our Team and Facilities
Charlestown employs over 800 individuals across various areas to ensure the community runs smoothly. The majority of our employees work in dining services, preparing 3,000 meals a day. Our maintenance team manages over 2.5 million square feet of space. We have a fully staffed medical center with four full-time physicians and two nurse practitioners. Additionally, we have social workers on campus who assist residents in need, supported by a larger Resident Life Department to ensure safety and enjoyment for all.Security and Safety
As a gated community, Charlestown offers 24/7 security. Emergency pull cords are located in all bathrooms, and residents can purchase a safety pendant to notify security in case of emergencies. We also have a door latch system in independent living to ensure daily accountability.Moving Services
Charlestown provides various services under the Erickson Realty and Moving Services to assist residents in their move to our community.Transportation Services
Complimentary transportation is provided to the grocery store four times a week, to the nearest hospital (St. Agnes), and within the community via a campus shuttle. For a fee, residents can arrange transportation anywhere within a 20-mile radius.Dining Options
Independent living residents receive one meal per day, usable for lunch or dinner, at any of our five restaurants.Resident Engagement
Residents can voice concerns through the Resident’s Council and various town hall meetings.Communication with Family
In independent living, communication with family members is limited. However, in case of any issues, Charlestown’s security, medical center, or social workers will contact family members.Respite Stays
Respite stays are limited to current residents, and costs will vary depending on individual needs.Pet Policy
Charlestown is pet-friendly.Apartment Selection and Occupancy
A Priority List helps facilitate the apartment selection process. Currently, there is a potential wait for larger apartments, with occupancy over 96%. Generally, one-bedroom apartments are available.Healthcare and Vaccinations
