Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Senior Sales Director at Cambridge Village of Apex via email on 2024-03-25.
Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
We currently have a waiting list for studio apartments and some of our two-bedroom floorplans. Our community has a lovely campus with a pond. Some folks join the waiting list prior to being ready just so they have first opportunity to choose a particular floorplan, location, view, etc. when the time feels right. Being on our Cambridge Club priority list offers the benefits of complimentary meals, use of the fitness center, and other perks.
Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
Senior Living communities are comprised of several different departments run by department heads that are overseen by an Executive Director. At Cambridge Village of Apex, there is a lot of longevity within the management staff. Each department has specialized training based on the scope of work in that department. Departments include Reception, Resident Relations, Front of House Dining, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Maintenace, Sales & Marketing, Activities & Lifestyles, Wellness & Salon, as well as the Executive Leadership team.
Additionally, we have onsite partners with staff onsite such as WakeMed, Halo Primary Care, and Interim Healthcare.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
We have 24/7 staff presence onsite. There is an overnight reception member that monitors the doors and cameras and is available for emergency response. There is overnight presence of Interim Healthcare staff as well.
Access to the building is by fob and the front desk team has to allow entrance after 7 p.m. There are cameras throughout the hallways as well as the parking area.
Within the apartment, there is a motion sensor and we are looking for movement by 11 a.m. If we donβt see movement we call the resident and if there is no answer we do a physical check-in. There is also an emergency alert panel in the bathroom and fall pendants are available for rent.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
We have healthcare partners onsite that provided supportive care to the residents to help them remain independent with the goal of aging-in-place. Interim Healthcare is our primary partner and provides assisted care services in either an a la carte or through packages. This is private pay but they do accept long term care insurance and they can help file for VA benefits if available. See attached service and pricing sheets.
WakeMed has onsite physical therapy. In home PT, OT, and Speech therapy are also available.
Halo Medical is our onsite primary care which is billable through Medicare.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Yes, scheduled transportation is available on weekdays within a 10 mile radius of Cambridge. Our community bus makes weekly scheduled trips to grocery stores and other stops for convenience.
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
At Cambridge, we offer restaurant-style dining. Residents have a Cambridge Credit that is built into their rent that goes back to them as a spenddown account to pay for meals. Our dining is very choice based. In addition to the restaurant, we have a pub and cafΓ©. Our executive chef and dining committee put a lot of thought into the offerings on the menu. In addition to the menu, we have two daily specials to choose from. Most people like enjoy a meal once they narrow down the communities they are considering. All of our apartments have kitchens as well.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
All complaints and concerns are taken seriously. This is a very broad question and I will need clarification as to what type of situation you are concerned about. Are you referring to complaints about food, maintenance, customer service?
We have a resident advisory board that meets with our Executive Director monthly. We encourage our residents to voice their concerns/complaints to a board member so that it can be addressed at the meeting. We also have comment cards available. Our Director has an open-door policy and welcomes residents to stop by at any time.
What is the cost of living in your community?
The brochure that I emailed to you has a list of all of our floorplans and pricing. At the top of the sheet in the blue box, it lists everything included in the rent. The bottom of the sheet outlines the costs involved with moving in. The range in price on the floorplans is dependent on location, view, balcony, etc. I have attached the prices to this email as well.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
Our Resident Relations team is available to help families coordinate care for their loved ones if the need arises. We have weekly meetings to discuss care concerns within the community and what measures are needed to keep our residents safe & healthy.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
Yes, we offer short-term stays. I would need to talk with you to determine cost.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Yes, we are a pet friendly community.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Residents are encouraged to get their vaccines at a local pharmacy and we can provide transportation. We do have onsite primary care for more extensive needs. However, they do not keep vaccines on hand due to the low volume of need.
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, see above answer about our care services. However, we do not have a secure memory care and we do not have skilled nursing. We are located next door to Rex Rehab which is the preferred choice of most of our residents for skilled needs should they arise.
