Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Sales and Marketing Director at Bright Leaf Place via email on 2024-07-31.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
We have 24-hour nursing care on site. We have a nurse on call 24/7 along with our in-house practitioner who is accessible 24/7. We also have a secure memory care community as well.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
We have 2 Certified Dementia Practitioners in the community who ensure staff are well trained on transfer trauma.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
All residents and families are encouraged to express their issues with our Director of Nursing or our Executive Director. We also hold monthly resident council meetings where they are also encouraged to attend.
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
Our wonderful nursing team ensures that families are up to date on all areas of the loved oneβs stay. Any changes in condition, changes in medication, etc are always communicated immediately.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
Our contract is a 30-day contract meaning that if you want to move your loved one back home or anywhere else, all we ask is that you give us a 30-day written notice and you are only financially responsible for those 30 days. We do offer respite stays as well. Those prices vary depending on if the resident is assisted living or memory care appropriate.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
We currently have a community cat, Athena, who has been with us for 7 years. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not allow residents to have pets BUT we do encourage pet-friendly visits. We also have therapy dogs and the SPCA bring kittens to visit monthly as well.
Do you guys currently have a waitlist?
At this time, we do not have a wait list. I can not assure that will not change at any point in time. A deposit of $2000 will hold a room for 14 days.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes, we ensure that residents receive the annual flu vaccine and COVID vaccines.
Are residents able to age in place?
Great question! We want all our residents to age in place! That is one of the great things about us is that we have both assisted living and memory care options which helps to ensure aging in place. We are a one-time move! When an assisted living resident needs memory care, we ensure that the room setup is as identical as the assisted living room to help alleviate more confusion. Our staff are trained on both assisted living and memory care to ensure continuity of care as well.
About Us
We are a small company located in Danville, Virginia, known as Cardinal Senior Living (Assisted and Memory Care Facility). Our five acres of land are tucked away in a private neighborhood with very little traffic.
Memory Care
Our employees have received additional training and are well-versed in caring for our patients who require memory care. A large selection of activities in our activities section are designed to assist patients with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Some of these activities include music therapy, art therapy, and sensory stimulation exercises.
Assisted Living
We have an assisted living section where patients who are more self-sufficient can get guidance with some duties. Throughout the day, a variety of activities are scheduled for those residents, including shopping, crafting, bingo, chess, and exercising in the gym or outdoors. Our gym offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to all those in need five days a week, whether that be due to deconditioning, a fall, or recent surgery. We pride ourselves on providing a safe and comfortable environment for our residents, with 24/7 care available.
