Overview of Staff and Training

Our staff members undergo continuous training throughout the year, including online education mandated by the state of PA and for compliance purposes. Our Clinical team acquires CEUs based on specific training needs, and we offer on-site training for new admissions depending on their medical requirements. It's a daily learning environment upheld by both our business and clinical teams.

Safety and Well-being Measures

We ensure the safety and well-being of our residents by maintaining appropriate clinical support ratios, having a social services director and assistant for behavioral interventions, an on-call on-site clinical team member, an always available administrator, and a manager-on-duty each day until 7/8pm.

Transition into the Community

Our social services department coordinates person-centered plans for residents transitioning to the community, considering their clinical and community-based needs. This is discussed during care-plan meetings with our rehab therapists, medical review, social services review, and sometimes our business office manager.

Transportation Services

We have an on-site Birchwood van for most resident transportation needs to scheduled appointments. Additionally, a transportation service is used when our van is unavailable.

Dining Experience

Our Registered Dietician and Culinary Director customize diets to meet nutritional, health, or religious needs. We offer various textures and therapeutic diets, seasonal menus, and an “always available” menu for personal preferences.

Handling Complaints and Issues

Residents are informed about our grievance policy upon admission. Grievances can be submitted by anyone and are followed up on and resolved efficiently after investigation.

Cost of Living

The semi-private rate per day is $380.00, and the private rate is $395.00. These costs are typically covered under skilling benefits through insurance for those not paying privately.

Communication with Residents' Families

Families can request clinical updates and participate in care-plan meetings. Each resident has a personal phone line for direct contact.

Short-term or Respite Stays

We offer short-term, long-term, and respite stays, with costs varying based on the type of care and coverage options.

Pet-Friendly Community

We welcome canines at Birchwood Rehab, requiring them to be leashed, non-aggressive, and have all necessary documentation for entry.

Waitlist Information

Currently, there is no waitlist, though acceptance may depend on specific male/female needs and availability.

Vaccination Availability

We offer on-site Covid and flu vaccinations, administered by our infection control nurse, with options reviewed upon admission.

Aging in Place

Residents seeking long-term care transition are supported within our facility, benefiting from restorative-care therapy/rehab, 24/7 clinical care, and daily social activities.
