Community Living Details

With us being 55+ Active Living, we do not hire any professionals to work with the residents. It is still very independent living here at the community. If you need to provide in-home health care for yourself you are able to. We do not do any extended care services or Assisted living.

Security Measures

Security measures are taken at the community. The main lobby doors will be the only doors unlocked here at the community from 8-5pm Monday through Friday when staff is present. During the weekends and after 5pm, all doors are locked and the only way in is with a key fob when you are a resident or have an emergency key. If you are coming to visit after hours and the doors are locked and you don't have a key, there is a call box in the entryway you can use to call up to the specific apartment. They can then give you a 4 digit code to unlock the doors.

Resident Services

We have a resident services coordinator here at the community who helps integrate new people into our community. She will answer any questions you may have after signing a lease. She goes over how to run appliances, set up internet and cable. She will also assist you with which doors are going to be closest to your apartment when moving in and what elevators are going to be easiest to access.

Transportation

We do not offer transportation for the residents. There is a service called HIRTA that they can call and set up a pickup time, and they can take them anywhere in the Des Moines area. They can also use Uber or Lyft if they can.

Meal Arrangements

Meals are completely up to the resident. With us being the 55+ Active Lifestyle we do not provide that service.

Complaint Resolution

If a resident has a complaint, we ask that you bring it to the attention of one of the staff members. We can then bring it to our community director to try and resolve the situation or issue.

Resident Updates

Unless there is an issue that we are aware of, we will not update you on the resident. The 55+ Active Lifestyle is geared towards socialization and activity. We are not an Assisted Living or even Independent community as they sometimes offer meals and extended levels of care. Those places would update you and notify you.

Lease Terms

The only lease term that we offer here is a 12-month lease.

Pet Policy

We are a pet-friendly community. There is a monthly pet fee and deposit for pets.

Waitlist Information

We currently have a waitlist for specific floorplans only. Depending on what you are wanting, we may not have a waitlist.

Vaccination Services

Margaret, our social director, sets up different kinds of vaccinations that are given in the celebration center here at the community.

Hospice and Resident Age Range

We have had residents that have gone through hospice with us here. We have residents from 55 years old all the way up to 99 years old at the moment. It really just depends because not every single person is the same.
