Community Details
This detailed information was received through an email from the Community Relations Director at American House Wildwood via email on 2024-01-30.
The Waitlist
We have a wait on some apartment styles and availability on others. We have nine different floor plans (from studio to two-bedroom).
General Information and Pricing
I have attached some files (price sheet, calendar, and floor plans), and I will also include a link at the bottom of this email so that you might go directly to our community website and see a video to give you a better idea of our amenities.
Our Staff
Our staff is what this community is known for. We are an independent living community (with care services in place)--but the staff is varied and come from many different backgrounds (some with no experience and some with decades of senior living experience).
Safety and Well-being Measures
We have a few measures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. One is the longevity of our staff and the friendliness of our residents. The whole community is aware of one another and looks out for one another. Another measure in place is our personal care program, and this means that if a resident needs additional help (showering, medication), we can accommodate. We also have an emergency pendant system. This is a necklace or bracelet that residents can wear (optional), and they can press the button to call us 24/7.
Transitioning New Residents
When new residents move into the community, there are resources and support services to help them transition into the community. Each person's experience and needs are unique. We do our best to communicate, so that our residents and their families feel comfortable to be as open as possible. We have amazing residents who have volunteered to assist new residents in their transition. They are our community ambassadors and help with everything from using the washing machine to being someone to eat meals with.
Transportation and Trips
Our community and the monthly rent include scheduled transportation. I am attaching a community calendar so that you can view some of our trips—the only thing not on the calendar is our everyday trips (Publix, Winn Dixie, banks, pharmacies, Wal-Mart, etc.).
Our Food
Another thing our community is known for is our food. Our restaurant is open 7am-7pm with no set mealtimes. Our residents can dine whenever they choose and three meals a day are included in the monthly rent. Also, our restaurant has a menu—it is not just one or two choices for each meal. If you would like to see copies of our menus, please let me know and I would be happy to email them to you.
Addressing Complaints and Issues
If a resident has a complaint or any issue that they would like addressed, they can go to any staff member they feel most comfortable with. Also, all management has an open-door policy. Service to our residents is what we are all about, and the culture here is open, welcoming, and friendly (even when someone is upset).
Communication with Families
We communicate with resident's families as much as possible. When a resident moves in, there is an emergency contact sheet that they fill out (telling us who we can speak with). Any emergency situations—and designated contacts are contacted immediately. In addition, family members can reach out to us at any time with any concerns or just the overall well-being of their loved one.
Short-term or Respite Stays
We do offer short-term or respite stays. We often have snowbirds that come down and will stay with us for a month, two, or three. For example, if we have someone come stay for two months, we will charge two months' rent. Otherwise, the charge is $150 per day. If we have someone who would like to "try" our community, they can stay with us for a few days to get an idea of what we are all about. There is no charge for that.
Pet Friendly Community
We are a super pet friendly community—we love animals and even have a dog park on the property. We have cats, dogs, and birds that live here.
Covid and Flu Vaccinations
The Covid vaccine is something the residents have received right here in the community, and now we take the residents to where they would like to get one (example, Walgreens or CVS). The flu vaccinations are given yearly by our physician's group that comes into the community, or we can take residents to where they choose to get it.
Aging in Place
Residents being able to age in place is a completely unique situation for each person. We still have some of our first residents from when we opened almost eleven years ago. We have residents who have decided to go on hospice and remain in the community until their last days. It depends on the scope of what a resident's needs are. We have a wait on some apartment styles and availability on others. We have nine different floor plans (from studio to two-bedroom).
