Professional Staff and Training
As I think most of my answers will go, there is far more professionals and training than I can even describe via email! Our Dietician is licensed and is in charge of all diet orders, our chef has served several decades as a downtown restaurant chef and runs his own catering business, our Executive Director has a doctorate and has recently gone back to school to learn more about the clinical world so he can be more invested in clinical conversations with our staff and residents. Along with this, we have a Director of Nursing with several decades experience with this building, a Unit manager for assisted Living who has been at the Altenheim for over 30 years, and 2 other nursing managers who are currently taking extra classes to further their knowledge. We do have online and in person trainings throughout the year and a staff which do include monthly Inservice trainings for the whole staff.
Resident Care and Safety
This question is rather broad and I think the scope is very important. Our assisted living is set up with the appropriate staff to manage all care levels needed, however we do run based on resident care and resident rights, so our residents are allowed to leave our property, they are not locked in our building. That being said, all outside doors do require a code to enter and exit and our receptionist does have every person sign in and out of our building. Our memory care is slightly different because it is a locked unit for the safety of all of those residents.
Community Resources and Events
We have provided community resources in the past and those have evolved and developed into different services now. We do have resident Council meeting every month and scheduled events that are set to introduce residents, along with that, we also provide ample physical and online resources to aid in any questions our residents and families have.
Transportation
We do have transportation. Our buses are available every day, but our Assisted Living resident can utilize the buses for free on Tuesday and Thursday.
Meals and Dining Services
We provide 3 meals a day cooked and served in-house. Our head chef is a Licensed restaurant chef who loves to serve, and our dining room is set up as a restaurant to provide as much as we can. For a small fee, we can also take a tray of food to residents in their rooms.
Complaint and Grievance Process
If any staff member hears any complaint, they are required to report it immediately. They are to fill out a grievance form and take it directly to Social Services who will address the director whose staff the complaint is about and then to our executive director. They then work together to contact the family/resident and resolved the issue.
Cost of Living
Our Cost of living drastically varies for our residents based on the care levels needed and based on what room they would like to rent from our community. We would not know this for certain until after we complete our assessment on the resident.
Family Communication
If anything happens to our residents, the families are notified immediately, if nothing is happening, families are welcome to read through our newsletter every month.
Respite Stays
We do offer respite stays and they are all inclusive experiences for $175 a day.
Pet Policy
We are pet friendly. All we would need is a vaccination record for pets to visit. If a pet would like to move in there is a one time pet fee of $500 and the resident is expected to care for the animal completely.
Room Availability
We do not currently have a waitlist, however, we do not have all of our room options available at this time, so it depends on what you are looking for.
Vaccinations
We do provide covid and flu vaccines each year if residents would like them.
Aging in Place
Residents are able to age in place. Our residents can age from independent living all the way up to Level 4 care on assisted living in their room. If higher level of care is needed, we also have a longterm care community under the same roof.
Our Campus
Our campus sits on 32 acres and has an amazing garden area and pond.
Continuum of Care
We are a continuation of care campus which includes the following:
- Independent Living
- Assisted Living
- Memory Care
- Rehabilitation Center for Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies
- Long term care center
Our Values
We pride ourselves on putting family and family values first.
